I did a black Mercedes Benz Eclass today using the XMT intermediate swirl kit and my UDM. It came out extremely nice!

But I noticed that it took a lot longer than the black Cougar I just did the other day...Ive heard about some european car paint being HARDER than others. Is this car one of them?

Also I HATE BUGS!!! People just dont get that when the bug guts eat your paint you cant do anything but get it sanded down and resprayed! I hate how I make a car look like a black mirror and then the front looks like absolute turd because of etching!! And whats worse it seems like the polishes and waxes build up around the edges of the etching and accents it on black paint!

Hey A1A! We did a black 2001 Mercedes Monday and it took me twice as long to get my usual results. Unusual 'cause we did an '06 Mercedes last week that was cranberry in color - dark enough to see imperfections - and we took care of it in normal time.

I don't know when everyone had to become VOC compliant, but I wonder how much the difference in paint and process has to do with it. Then again, maybe we were just slow on Monday.

What year was the Mercedes?

I have no idea what year it was...it looked like an 05 or newer. It had this plastic formfitting decal that covered the front end. It was so chewed up with bug etching it made the final results less than desirable for my taste...but she was happy with it...

I have heard similar thoughts on the newer MB paints ... quite hard. While they only use the Ceramiclear on high end models currently, or so I am told, even the standard clears must be quite thick.

Yeh its a great road to cruise, intracoastal on one side and ocean on the other, and all the mansions and nice landscaping or old school trees etc. Just nice to roll the windows down and just cruise. I sometimes take it all the way to west palm or palm beach instead of 95'.
