A friend just completed a very long day detailing a C200(blue - 2008)
he used Menzerna compound + 3m Cutting pad.

Questions are:
1. when heavily swirled, is it better to wetsand the entire car and then compound polish? (i know very well that wetsanding is not an easy process)
2. What your recommended combo for Mercedes?

happy to hear your tips so next time will be an easier job

No, don't wetsand a factory paint job unless it's absolutely necessary or you don't mind having the car repainted down the road should the need arise.

Three reasons why,

  1. Factory paint is thin
  2. Factory paint is hard
  3. Factory paint is thin

The recommended combo for any car is,

"Use the least aggressive product to get the job done"

The first thing to do is to use products and procedures that avoid putting heavy swirls and scratches into a car's finish in the first place, ESPECIALLY after restoring the paint back to Good, Excellent or Show Car Quality condition as described on page 37 of my first how-to book.

Besides that I've found Menzerna Super Intensive Polish, now with the new name SI 1500 to be a very versatile Medium Cut Polish. For more aggressive cutting action use with a wool cutting pad and a rotary buffer, for final polishing use a polishing of finishing pad with any tool.

At this time Meguiar's M105 is one of the best aggressive compounds that finishes down like a polish.

The new and improved Optimum Compound II and Hyper-Compound are also very good compounds that cut fast and finish down excellent and best of all they have a very long buffing cycle with easy wipe-off.
