MF Cutting and Polishing Pads

Can you guys tell me if you have usd the LC or Meguies MF cutting or polishing pads?

i am using the LC hybrids with my flex 3401 and have seen the MF polishing pads, but I am not sure of the benefits of the MF or the conditions when I would use an MF pad to polish vs. the foam of the (white) hybrid pads.

Can you enlighten?

Not sure about when/why for polishing. For cutting the seem to work well. I have Megs and Griot's. On my GG6 at my skill level I prefer the Griot's Boss MF pads. The Megs will do the job also.

On the Flex the MEGUIARS mf pads can be kind of difficult to work with,on a regular da or the Rupes they will correct faster than foam pads most times. The MF pads with the thicker foam core i.e. Buff and Shine or Griots work better with the Flex but still not as smooth as foam. The Megs mf on the Flex is an upper arm workout and IMHO not worth it

The megs discs cut great and with d300 finish down well on certain paint systems. Have gotten nice results w the finishing pad and m205.

The main thing is to keep the pad clean and not let heat build up on the meguiars ones or you will be buying new discs.

Many users of the 3401 will opt for wool pads, rather than microfiber.

Dr . G's mf pads were my only foray into this arena.
They worked well and there is a learning curve.
They quickly became aluminum duty pads.
Worked well but not worth the effort in the long run because I could have cut with the rotary and finished with foam more quickly.
But hey I was new to AGO and willing to try new products and techniques.
Nothing ventured is nothing gained.

Yes. I would switch them out as needed. In my opinion microfiber pads generate and dispense heat differently than foam pads so they need to be switched more often than foam. Also since I did not have a pad washer I would clean them with the pressure washer on low and spin dry them on the 849 at low speed. Then Place in the Sun to dry as I grab for a clean pad.
Again I'm speaking about OMF pads.

Agreed.

I never had any luck using various manufactures MF pads on the 3401. MF pads don't play well with the gear driven characteristics of the FLEX. Wool pads are the way to go as they handle far better on the 3401. Not too mention they will also outcut MF pads. (when used on the 3401)
