Hey guys I searched alot of threads on different microfiber clothes and I'm a little confused, can someone spoon feed me?

I want to know which i should get for drying the car, which I should get for removing compound and which i should get for using polish or sealant.

I was thinking about getting this kit, but I'm not sure and I also need something bigger for drying.

Microfiber Towel Combo

That kit looks good though you would want to add a cobra guzzler towel the green one for drying the paintwork

no need to over think on mf towels. if you buy them on AG, get some cobra gold plush jr's (about a dozen) which can be used all around (paint, windows, etc.) and some waffle weaves (guzzlers) for drying (get 2). also, buy some yellow bulk mf towels (buy 2 packs) from costco for less important tasks (interior, wheels, engine, etc.)...

Yeah I already purchased a 16 pack of MF from Harbor Freight when they were have a sale I got it for 8$ !!

Check this out.
Microfiber Towels Comparison Chart
Notice the blend 70/30, 75/25. Is the weight above 360.
Anything less should be used for wheels and engine compartment.
Quality lasts. Better to pay alittle more, then spending your time
buffing and using up clear coating removing imperfections, etc.

I'm partial to the Artic White's , Clean and Buff's and Guzzlers

What about if you have a wipe on polish/sealant? What would you use?

Are you wanting to know what to use to hand-apply a polish or sealant? Or a AIO? If so, use a microfiber applicator for a polish and a foam/microfiber (foam OR mf) applicator for a sealant.

I would add a vote for the kit you linked along with a Waffle Weave big drying towel added in. When i first got turned on to MF towels i tried several different kinds until i settled on what i preferred for certain tasks. That kit would allow you to do that as it has several different towels. Just add in a big drying towel or two that the kit is missing.

I dunno there.... 10 towels for fifty bucks... whew! I'd be more inclined to go over to Microfiber Tech and pick up 17 for 59 and change. That'd be 3 400gsm Korean edgeless split weaves, 10 360 dual plush (same as the Gold Plush Jr's), 3 530's (I like them MUCH better than the Cobra 530's), and 1 25x36 Korean waffle weave drying towel.

The main reason I'd not go for the 2 of this 2 of that is you just are not getting enough towels to get anything done. That is the reason I'd say get AT LEAST 10 of your most used towels, like the 360 dual-plush better yet get 20. It's not hard to use a dozen towels doing a car, especially if you're compounding and polishing. You don't want to use the same towel to wipe down the entire car, and you don't want to use your compounding towels to remove polish. Also, the same towels (the 360's) can also remove your LSP (sealant). Just make sure they are clean first.

I put the 400gsm edgeless Korean towels in there instead of the 470's simply because the 470's are out of stock. Although.... the 470's are a GREAT towel AND they are actually a 513GSM towel. Ian left the description up from last year (totally different towel) when they were actually a 470. The ones he's had since last fall have been well over 500 GSM for a long time now.

Given the choice.... I'd call Ian and see when the new stock is coming in. Wouldn't be bad to wait for those. ;) (OTOH, I've still got probably 25~30 that I've not used yet from my last order. And 20 gold/black 360's as well. ) :D

Early last month (I think) I received a couple of the 25x36 Korean drying towels, a couple different synthetic chamois units, several different types/sizes of waffle weaves, some glass towels, and a couple super plush towels. I'm not one to use a lot of waffle weaves because I don't like doing a lot of wiping, (more blowing and then blotting) and because wiping tends to leave scratches/swirls I stray away from it whenever possible. But the Korean drying towels are AMAZING! I still blot with them, but they are very VERY good drying towels!

The Cobra Guzzler is one AG towel I like however. ;) It's VERY absorbent, and will dry any vehicle you could ever have without ever getting water logged.

Can't go wrong with the Guzzler or the MFT Korean units. Until I tried these latest Korean towels I'd not found a similar (waffle weave type construction) that'd come close to the Guzzler's by just laying them on the surface. Really easy though with both of them. Just place them out flat on the surface, gently lay your open hand on the back and very lightly rub the back of the towel. Do NOT rub the towel around on the paint just rub the back of the towel itself. Move the towel and *presto* the surface will be bone dry. :) I can dry an entire vehicle with a single one of either of these towels. :dblthumb2:

Looking at the comparison chart, I still have a question. Should I use the same towel for both rinseless and waterless wash? I do a lot more spray on waterless washes than rinseless bucket washes.

Lastly, glass is a pita for me. Some of the MF towels I have used in the past leave their lint behind.

Thoughts?

You can use the same towels for both - but I use different. I buy the chinchillas here at AGO for Waterless and the orange edgeless at TRC for rinseless.

In terms of glass - I agree. It's my least favorite thing about car care... I HATE it. But my issue is how easy it is to leave streaks I don't have issues using the MF waffle weave from AGO or TRC. It's best to wash those separate from your polishing MF and only with those you waffle weaves you use to dry. That could help the lint

Ian @ MFT has some glass towels that'll have you never looking back. The green ones he's had for a while now and are very good! In a sample pack I received a while back he sent some new brown-ish (with orange stitching on the perimeter) ones that work very well also.

Another long standing choice is to search out "surgical huck towels". They are cotton and have been a favorite for many for YEARS now.

That is a unique idea. I'll have to ask around for a couple of those to try.
