Mich. taxpayers sending 80 officials off to Hawaii

This is what I read recently in the Free Press. I think I know why Michigan is going down the toilet. Kinda amazing how they keep complaining there is no money, and that they are going to have to cut spending for the kids for school of $150. But they get a vacation to Hawaii. Poorest state currently sends twice more then any other state. Anyways, here is the post.

Nearly 80 officials across Michigan -- more than twice the number of any other state -- plan to fly off to Hawaii this month for a weeklong conference on public pension issues. And taxpayer-backed pension funds will pay the tab.

No thats not why.
Michigan depended and based our economy around industrial auto manufacturing. Now that they pulled out of the state we are literaly left with nothing. The biggest mistake we made was depending on the auto industry, we put ourselves in this position.

I still think that the expnse of flying to Hawaii need to come from their own pocket, but not out of state budget, not even one single penny.

I agree. I don't understand why they need to send twice more then the closest state is sending. I mean come on. I could understand paying for the conference but what about hotel, airline, food, etc. I think I am more upset about it being 80 people. O well...
