are terrible. i like a whole lot about AG but i've bought several of the microfiber chenille mitts hoping they would be better quality than the auto parts store examples and while it's cool they don't have the net inside, they suffer from the same frustrating issue: the stupid elastic breaks up in the cuff and ends up releasing little hard black bits everywhere, thus, creating a hazard for paint and rendering the wash solution you just whipped up useless. it's not a batch issue as far as i know because i've bought them over time and had the same exact thing happen to each and every one.

i'm done with them. i've moved on to the Incredimitt. it's a lot more expensive but with the frequency that i was moving to new chenille mitts, it'll be well worth it. i need the reliability.

the most frustrating thing aside from what i've mentioned is that the actual mitt part is still good at the time when this happens. so you have to tear the cuff off and are left with a chenille rag that is imo good for an emergency if you have a really dirty area that's too rough and will contaminate your "regular" mitts.

I have non problem with mine. Been using color coordinates mitts for top panel, lower panel, and wheel wells for years. I tend to believe products such as these mitts last longer when properly cleaned and tanken care of.

Ive never had on eproblem with any of my MF Chenille mitts. My green one have have been using for over three years now and its perfectly soft. I have the black one and I have been using that for a year and never had any issues.

i wish i had the same luck with mine. like all of my equipment, i maintain them to the highest degree. looking further into it, i'm highly confident it's not the chemicals i'm using or anything because when i used to use store-bought shampoos (Megs, Eagle One, etc.), the elastic would fail on the store-bought mitts. i switched to Optimum shampoo years ago and the AG mitts would do the same thing over time. i always rinse them well and hang dry, and they are stored in a climate controlled area. if for some reason the lower panel/wheel mitts become too soiled, i will machine wash thoroughly with a good Micro-Restore agitated soak prior...and hang dry.

i use warm water for my car wash solutions, not hot...and the same for cleaning the mitts themselves.

the cuff quality on the cheap Megs mitts and the (relatively) expensive Incredimitt seem superior. we'll see.

The machine wash might be the problem. If my mitt gets very dirt I simply put mf cleaners in a 5 gallon buckets and soak it.

Yeah it could be the machine washing but if you machine dry your wash mitt the elastic can take a beaten why dont you soak it like wes bremec said then hand wash and air your wash mitt thats my method and mines are in like new condition from 4 years ago

i appreciate the insights guys :)

i don't machine dry anything. and as far as machine wash, i mentioned that it's the lower panel/wheel mitts that on occasion i've had to machine wash (on slow) after soaking. however, i've never had to machine wash any of my upper panel mitts. either way, the elastic breaks up on me no matter what mitt. so the upper panel mitts that are never machine washed break up in the cuff...and the lower panel mitts that occasionally see a machine wash do the same.

how often are you guys using yours? that might have something to do with it as well. i'm using them quite a bit even with a rotation. four years with one mitt? there is no way i'd get a fraction of that before the cuff rendered itself useless. i mean...sometimes in a matter of months it happens!

I machine wash my chenille mitts without any issues. I hang them up the dry after rinsing out then put them in the next mf wash with my glass and drying towels.
