My MF towels are starting to leave small fibers on the paint even after using a detail spray, These are good towels (at least I thought) some are getting used a bit for sure and have been washed several times. What is my problem? Are they starting to break down? Thanks

I'm not sure they break down like cotton towels do.

The sun might if you let them sit out for a long time.

Do you wash and dry them separately from cotton materials.

If so maybe try cleaning or wiping down your dryer before you put your next load in.

I also think the dryer agitation balls help some.

If that doesn't work, I'd go over them with a lint roller after your done drying them.

Several different brands, some from Chem guys some from Adams etc. I do wash and dry them separately

What is the gsm? For me, I'm more likely to have linting with the ultra soft higher gsm towels where my lower gsm edgeless microfiber terry towels never seem to lint.

What is your washing/drying process?

I wash them separate from others with a non scented detergent dry on delicate

That all sounds good to me. Do you wash on hot?

I wash all of my towels on warm/cold then dry them on delicate/low heat for 15-20 minutes.

After a few months of use, some of my towels start to degrade and lint or just generally feel less soft. Those towels I'll wash separately on hot since I'm no longer using them on paint. That said, I'm sure I have lower standards than most when it comes to the quality of microfiber I'm willing to use on paint, especially because I only use chinese microfiber

Try the new Kirkland. They do not shed and are very soft. I have numerous "premium" MF from various sources and a few of them do shed.

I had no clue that kirkland came out with a new microfiber towel? When was this?

It may be overkill, but after I take my MF out of the dryer, I go over them with a lint roller. This is also a great way to give them a good inspection before folding them and putting them away.

At least a few years ago. Bright yellow. Never had an issue with them. I also use a QD to dry, every time.

Do you ever see lint from the MF?

Some towels just long like the griots speed shines for me. Try an extra rinse with vinegar
