Funny, I was actually thinking about APC this morning.
While I've bought and compared far too many soaps, tyre dressings, drying aids ect, I've never really done that with APC. Why? Because I rarely use APC, and when I do, quite often its not even on a vehicle itself. In other words, apart from the occasional engine bay clean, the use of APC is limited to cleaning brushes, equipment and tools. So, with that in mind, I'm probably not the person such a comparison.
Now, as you say, the term All Purpose is a very loose term. In theory, any alkaline cleaning or degreasing chemical used in a spray format would fit this description. In theory, that would include wheel and tyre cleaners too, however, we aren't using those in an all-purpose manner. On the flip side of that, do we include dedicated interior cleaners as All Purpose as well, pH neutral or otherwise? Hmmm, I not sure I can answer that.
The following four are products I've used and what I term APC -
Meguiars Heavy Duty Multi-Purpose Cleaner - This was the first APC I ever used, which is most likely a pre-diluted retail version of D101. Does the job, but not an economical way to buy such a product.
Auto Finesse Verso - A truly terrible product that I was glad to see the back of. Virtually useless, to point where plain water would do the exact same job in the exact same way.
Koch Chemie Green Star - I bought this after finishing off the bottle of Verso, and what a difference. If you were to use this for interior cleaning, Koch suggest a 20:1 dilution ratio to make it safer. I don't use it like that as I don't need that level of cleaning ability for interiors, and if I do, I'm using something else. As such, I have GS mixed at 6:1 to make the most of its ability. I tried it on tyres and wasn't blow away.
Bilt Hamber Surfex HD - I personally don't use this on cars, rather for machinery maintenance. However, it there was one APC that covers most bases, I'd probably lean towards Surfex. It can be used right out to 100:1 for light cleaning, 10:1 for "general use", or at full strength for maximum degreasing ability. I use it at 1:1.
