is it safe to use those microfiber brush to wipe off dust on exterior?

You're better off just waiting to wash.

Although I wonder if using an air compressor would be effective. But I wouldn't recommend touching the paint for just dust.

So true.
Take the car for a quick spin, the dust will disappear :p
Once the paint is corrected, the only time I would touch it is during washing and drying.
Save the cash and buy some soap
:D
Regards

Dust can be extremely abrasive, I wouldn't risk it. I'm even hesitant to use a QD if the level of dust on the car is clearly visible. I would just wash it, besides, I like washing my car.

I've seen someone try to blow the dust off their car with a leaf blower, granted it got the 'big' stuff off, but the car was still heavily coated with dust. It would be like rinsing the car down and then drying it without washing it first.

I would suggest QD and good quality MF towel not the brush. Next step up for me has been a quick rinse and drying aid with MF towels.

once the car has been washed I don't touch the paint until the next wash...

IMO, no for painted surfaces. You need some sort of lubricant. The MF could mar the paint by itself, let alone with the "aid" of the dust on the vehicle. For your glass, sure.

WW or even RW are so easy now a days, I stick to that as a minimal. I only use QD for touch ups, never to "wash" the whole vehicle.

I'm guilty of taking the leaf blower to dust the car off before wash.

I learned long ago...don't touch the paint between washes...period. My paint has been flawless since. Coating the paint keeps it much cleaner and dust free longer....in fact it's been my experience that a coating can stretch out your maintenance requirements by a factor of at least 2x...I used to need to wash the car weekly before using coatings. Now I can easily go 2-3 weeks.

Ok, so your car stays cleaner for 2-3 weeks, how does your OCD handle the need for fewer washes?
