Hello, I had a question about Microfiber towels. I find myself screwing up alot of jobs with a hazy finish, or left over streaks, wipe marks etc. I am trying to figure out what type of Microfiber towel I need to use in order to keep those messy mistakes away. My questions are as followed:

What do I use for drying? I'm using an air compressor right now to blow off and dry remaining water but I sometimes find myself using MF towels after the fact.

What should I use for removing compound after it is applied? Right now I use a MF towel with a detailer spray to remove the spent compound from the service. IS THIS RIGHT? Or is it wrong? What's the BEST thing to use? I'm going to guess and say a buffing pad. If so, What kind? (For a Flex 3401) 4".

What type of MF should I use for waxing? (Buffing and taking off excess wax).

I apologize if these questions seem silly. I'm just trying to suck up as much knowledge as possible.

Thank you!!

Friendly bump! Still wondering what items to use! I think I read that a waffle-weave MF towel is best for drying??

I don't like the idea of drying excess water via compressed air. The dried water will leave deposits. And drying it with compressed air might leave oil deposits from the air compressor lubricant. I dry with one damp regular microfiber and one dry waffle weave drying microfiber. First wipe with damp microfiber to remove excess water, wring out water, dry panel with waffle weave drying towel and repeat.

A quick detailer will not remove all polishing oils. Use isopropyl alcohol mixed with water. Then follow with the sealant

I use Griot's Garage towels. They are color coded for each use and very specific which ones to use for drying, polish and wax removal. They are the best quality that I have seen as well. BTW, when you remove compound, using detailer's spray to make it easier is ok if you need it.

It's as simple as quality towels, quality microfiber detergent, and dry on low. Keep towels separated from each other and dedicate sets for specific uses.
