Well I might have my first client next week. A friend is recommending me to him and he wants to give me a shot.

He has a f-450 he wants cleaned in and out. Shampooed, waxed and interior cleaned.

How much would a job like that cost for you guys ?
I'm going to him and he is supplying the pressure washer.

I will be using optimum shampoo, and spray wax or pinnacle SSII

Interior is going to be wiped with CG inner clean.

(I might be able to squeeze in a clay bar in the detail)

Friend says he doesn't know the difference between waxes, shampoos.
She went as as far to tell me I can use cheap shampoo, wax and he won't know the difference. He basically doesn't care as long as its clean.

Since its your first customer I would go the extra mile and impress them.
Word of mouth is the best advertisements you can do. As for price I don't quote interior cleaning till I see the car.

x2 I agree.
But don't sell yourself short, because an F-450 is a friggin huge.

I wouldn't hesitate to spend the little extra time making sure its a great job. But the way my friend puts it is kinda harsh. " they don't care if you have the best products" clean is clean

If you take your time and do an outstanding job chances are he won't care.

Since you guys are experienced what would you charge for a job like that ? Clean it, spray wax it. Done ?

Regardless I'm going to make sir words great job.heknows a lot of people and will survey pass the word that I'm not one of those 10$ wash n wax details

$250 minimum... to include:

- Pre-Foam & 2BM wash
- Door Jambs
- Wheels/wells/etc
- D156
- Full interior steam clean, wipe down, and q-tip/toothpick dash detail

IF it's totally trashed it might be more. That a big friggin rig. Good luck!

For a complete interior cleaning my prices start at $125 and my wash and wax for that size is $75.

my wash and wax for that size is $75.

This is where I would start at. Maybe the interior for $25 more if it's not too bad.

Good luck!

I just got my first dealership contract today, and I have 3 cars to detail tomorrow, so maybe things are picking up all over! (Detailing season is starting woohoo!)

Wow that's a heck of a price. I don't think I'm up to that level of detailing yet that I can charge that much. I will be speechless if I can build a good clientele with doing his car.

Intimidated with that size car now

Congrats on the dealer ship contract man !
How did you go about asking them ? What sort of services are you doing for them? I need details lol you have me a good idea since I have like 5dealerships by my house.

What you have to keep in mind, Is that down here they're are so many hack "detailers" That mainly wash cars, and spray wax. Most charge $20 in and out for cars and $30 for trucks/suvs. Spray wax may add $15 to the bill.

If the guy doesn't care about your products. He more likely to hire them because of price.

I agree 10000000% about knocking it out of the park and going the extra mile. But you gotta factor in the process as well.

When I reconditioned that e150 in a thread I posted about a month ago. That was my homerun Derby. It took me four days (while working my night job) to do it. The bill was just over $600, but that included me paying a painter to paint the bumpers and parts. He too didn't care about product. But after he saw it. ...... I got them knocking at my door now.

Exactly!

I would charge $200-$300 btw

Figure out how much you charge an hr, and how long it would take to complete the job. AND POST BEFORE AND AFTERS!

I would love to start at 300 but more than likely he won't be comfortable with it specially with it being my first time washing his car(s) with him.

Do you really think 300 is good for a simple wash wax and interior clean ? Th

Wait. ..

Are you shampooing the carpets and dressing the interior panels? $200-$300 if you are.

$150 if not

First off, congrats on your first customer, it'll be one that you will truly always remember. I remember mine and I'm sure other professional detailers do as well!!!:props:

(I might be able to squeeze in a clay bar in the detail)

I would definitely try and clay it, one thing that will be mentioned when you talks about your company to potential future customers is how long your work lasted, not just how well it looked when he picked it up. When people come to us, it's to help protect there investment and when your work last longer than others, there more apt to come back to you.

Do not sacrifice your quality of work because a friend tells you they cannot tell the difference, remember your esentially building your brand and the last thing you want to be known for is shoddy work with even more shoddy products. Let your judgement guide you, not those of others :xyxthumbs:

Since its your first customer I would go the extra mile and impress them.

+1 - Impress your new customer, but do not do it for "free". You may or may not have an overhead but when it comes to aspects of my life such as this I like to live by this motto.

That doesn't mean rip off your customers, but you have to get in the mindset that your providing a service. Once you get in that mindset you can concentrate on how to better service your customers.

If you take your time and do an outstanding job chances are he won't care.

Most customers will not know what you did, and will not care, but again that doesn't mean you should sacrifice your quality of work. Another thing to look at is building packages that match your market. I think this post by mike will greatly help you when it comes to the exterior for customers such as this.
How to use a one-step cleaner/wax to maximize profits

Since you guys are experienced what would you charge for a job like that ? Clean it, spray wax it. Done ?

I word charge the F-450 on the same basis as I would say an Suburban or Excursion. So between $250 to $350 depending on the amount of work that is required. I find that some of the bigger trucks almost always look easier than they actually are and I use to almost always shoot myself in the foot when it comes to price. I raised my price and got rid of that feeling, when the vehicle ends up being easier to do I will discount accordingly. Better to have a higher estimate and then discount it(If you choose to) then to lowball an estimate and end up having to raise it, or worse eat the loss.

Very good advice here, I'm glad I'm not the only one recommending this.

Wow that's a heck of a price. I don't think I'm up to that level of detailing yet that I can charge that much. I will be speechless if I can build a good clientele with doing his car.

If you do a great job you'll build a good clientele. I like to look at it as gaining 2 customers for every car that I do, because if your quality of work matches there expectation then the customer is very likely to recommend you to several friends, which in the end you may get 2 customers.

Intimidated with that size car now

It's not uncommon to be intimidated by a certain vehicle size or brand. But once you get into the actual job that intimidation goes away quickly and the job at hand comes fore front.

What sort of things to you do for a interior full detail with that price ?

For me when I end up with a full interior other than what was listed above, I pay attention to seat belts, cup holders, door sill, the seat area inbetween the backrest and the bottom cushion... that joint, and the instrument cluster. It's amazing how many detailers in my area forget to do those, especially cup holders, and seat belts. :nomore: becuase I don't miss it :xyxthumbs:
I hope this isn't too much info, and I hope I'm not making this a daunting job because if anything like me or other detailers your going to have fun on your first job. If not, you'll still look back at it in the future and laugh because even if it's bad, there is always a worse car out there lol:bestwishes:

Don't forget to take ALOT of pics of the before and after and post them :Picture:
