I am the owner of a new Honda Ridgeline and want to keep it looking new. I have a PC 7424XP DA buffer and have acquired many products
from Autogeek. [Blackfire and Meguiars] I also have a 2009 Honda coupe in excellent shape.
I am retired and am new to detailing. My age, 74, means that a lot of hand rubbing is not in the cards.
I have spent a lot of time reading the forum and believe I can get many question answered about tech. and products.
 
Welcome to the forum!! Once you use that DA your going to wonder why you've been hand rubbing for the last 20 years. Definitely a wealth of knowledge here.

Hondas usually have fairly soft paint. What products do you have exactly?

Personally not a big fan of 105. I've used it, it works good just a short working time and a fair amount of dust. If the paint isn't too bad you might be able to get away with just the 205. I've never used 205 but I've read a lot of good things about it.
Nice color. It will look incredible when you get done!
 
I think the easiest polish or compound to use is sonax right now.cut and finish is very efficient and effective with very little effort no dust.cutmax is great for moderate swirls,check out the sonax line great stuff.
 
Hi Mike!

You have quality products. I've always had the best luck with M105 by using it sparingly, and occasionally misting my pad with M34 Final Inspection. I would start by misting the pad, and applying three of four dots around the circumference. It would reload the pad with three small drops of compound.

I've used it with Green, Yellow, and Orange Buff and Shine Grip Pads, Cyan / Tangerine Lake Country Hydrotechs, Pink / Yellow / Orange Lake Country CCS, and Blue Rupes Microfiber discs.

I'm partial to the green Buff and Shine, and Rupes Microfiber (best cut), but it seemed best suited with the Lake Country Hydrotechs. They allowed for the least amount of dusting. Their cellular make up actually inhibits any part of the compound, be it abrasive dust, or liquid substrate to work itself into the foam. Howeve, I was able to get it to cut and finish best with the Tangerine Lake Country Hydrotech.

With all the advancements in pads, I still love that Hydrotech line.
 
Do yourself a favor and go Griots Boss system. Infinite combo of pad and product. No water spraying, no dust , and no guessing! This from a former Meguiars user and personally trained by Kevin Brown. I like the fact that they figured out a way all products work with all pads, and they don't tell you not to improvise!

Welcome to the forum Mike. I use the 105/205 combination but 105 is kind of a pain to work with. You have to stay on top of it so it is mostly my back up now. I started with the PC and 105/205 and quickly switched to the Flex. The PC is very versatile machine and easy to use. As you will notice there is a lot of love/hate relations with products. I say try what you have before buying more products.

I plan on using the 105 & 205 on the 2009 Honda Accord coupe. Its in good condition but
has swirls.

I appreciate your info. I will experiment on the 2009 Accord.
 
Try the 205 first with slow overlapping passes.for it to be really effective use a micro cutting pad.Go with optimium deosnt mat as quickly as there competitors.
