Mini Cooper Convertible prepped for sale by Greg Gellas

I was contacted by an old client to restore his mini-cooper, I had done a full detail on this car years ago, and now that he is ready to purchase a new car this one had to be prepped for sale.

There was tar all over the lower panels of the car. All of the exterior trim had faded to a grey.

The wheels were stained with years of brake dust.

A convertible top that was neglected, and needed a good cleaning.

As you can see it had no protection, water just soaked in, no beading at all.

After a complete wash, using a combination of Iron-X, P21TAW, Tarminator, Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Clear, and my NanoSkin Wash Mitt, I was able to get the exterior cleaned up. I pulled it in to inspect the interior.

Using a combination of Nanoskin pet hair gun, various brushes, Meg's D101, and some Einszett 1Z Cockpit Premium I was able to bring it back to an acceptable condition.

Seeing that there was caked on brake dust, I decided to steam the wheels. Although not perfect I made a huge improvement.

All of the chrome on the car got polished using Optimum's Metal Polish.

All of the trim got restored to a brilliant black using 22PLE Trim Restore.

The top is clean and protected, using Cquartz fabric and leather coat. There was now way to fix the fold lines in the top.

All of the paint was cleaned and coated with SONAX Nano Technology Paint Cleaner. Overall it was a huge improvement.

I'm impressed with how the trim came out. Did you do any pre cleaning prior the application to ensure proper bonding to make it last as long as possible?

P21TAW during my wash, then a quick IPA wipe down before application.

The car looks great. which steamer did you use? Awesome 50/50's and before and afters.

Well this my first post and mostly one that will not be well received.
This is a very informative site, and I found it while looking to see what was new in car care. For the most part I have enjoyed my time here and even learned a few this that I will take back to my own garage and try on my own cars and trucks.
The one thing that always left a bad taste in mouth is the trash talk of the condition some the cars start out as. The before pic of this details look to me as a NORMAL spring clean up after a NORMAL winter in the upper Midwest. Car care is not easy thought the winter if it is a daily driver, it is most like left for warmer weather except for the trip to the local DIY car wash to get the salt off.
It seem that if a car isn't in a 100 % it is open up to " Trashed" or " Pig stye" For those of you that are running a business please keep in mind that the Internet is for life anything you poste can be found with a google search. I hope that this is not the way people in business talk with there customer, if it is, they would not have mine.

Nice job! Love how the plastic exterior trim turned out! Got a similar level of detailing to do in the wife's black Holden Captiva. How long did it take from start to finish??

Highrev1 you did not trash talk the car, my comment was to the ones that did. Pig stye was one and comment about mice. You post was very informative and I enjoyed reading it and see the transformation. Nice Job. My point is these kind of remark, about someone car, business wise are doing you no favor.
