I have a quick Int/Ext package coming up and wanted to try a trick that I have seen from an Optimum video before I tried it on a customers vehicle.
Wax while you clay, two steps in one.
This was done at high noon in full sun!
I had washed the hood earlier while doing my car and but by the time I went to do this the hood was hot. So I flooded the hood with water for less than 30 seconds and wiped dry. Now it was cool to the touch.
I wet my clay mitt and squeezed out the excess water, then I simply misted the hood with Optimum Car Wax and started claying half of the hood. When I felt I was done, I wiped it down with a micro fiber. No buff needed. Then went to the other side and did the same, and did not rinse before starting. It was slightly warn, but not hot. Same great results.
Hood after washed. Some holograms visible from me playing around with my drill and wool pad a few months ago, oops.

After claying with OCW. No correction done at all.

Other side done and little wait time to make sure the wax was cured just to be safe. Then a spray with some water to check the results.

I think it turned out surprisingly well for how bad the condition of this "farm truck's" paint was.
No streaking, and no buffing. Just a wipe to remove the excess wax.
It also seemed to have a slight filling/glazing ability too from viewing the area of the holograms. Don't quote me one that one though, it may have just been the angle the picture was taken from, but it also seemed to reduce the appearance of the swirls too.
Optimum Car Wax; the more I use it, the more I like it.
