I have been looking at these small vacuums that double as a blower. CG have one that they sell on their site, but I haven't seen it on AG. I am more interested in the Makita BUB182Z cordless version.

I want to use it to basically be a quick vacuum for the car that I don't have to drag a cord out for. Just light duty vacuuming. But it would be nice to use it as a quick dry blower as well. It is quite a lot of $ compared to the corded CG version though. Does anybody have any experience with either version?

Am I missing something, this is just a blower right? I have my Dewalt cordless/corded vac and went to put my new 18V Li-on batt in it and it does not work:bash:

I wanted a portable vac to clean up easy with 2 little ones there is always stuff getting dropped or dragged in.

it is a vac and a blower. you just switch where the nozzle attaches and connect a bag.

ok, i just realized DeWalt makes 2 cordless mini vacs.

Any experience with either one? Power? How long on one charge?

I don't have a ton of experience with it, but the second one, right above this post, my dad owns. It works decent as a general vacuum for the shop or house, but not really automotive IMO. Didn't seem to have enough suction power for my carpets.

From my personal experience I would be weary of using a vacuum that also has a blowing feature. Once you use your small vacuum to suck dirt and dust it will collect dust and dirt inside the housing over time. This means that there is a chance of it blowing built up crud at your car if you decide to switch it from vacuum to blower. I use a dedicated vacuum and CG blower

:iagree:good point. How do you like the CG blower?

The Dewalt I have is the top on in the picture and its great as a small vac and can do wet when you take out the filter which is awesome so you don't have to break out the monster shop vac but the one I have will not use the new 18V battery I just got but it is an older unit and I hear the new ones don't have the stupid plastic piece blocking the batter from seating.

The CG blower is nice and compact, it also has some good power for such a little machine. You can dry a whole car with it, but it will take you a bit longer than a full size corded blower. I also use it to blow interiors and crevices prior to extracting with my Mytee lite. I have limited space with my current mobile set up so I wanted a blower that was small and powerful at the same time.
