Hi Folks!

Beautiful weather here in the SF area gave me the chance to catch up on one car, and get familiar with another. Schedules and Mother Nature have conspired against me, and neither my wife's Lexus or my new-to-me Audi have received anything beyond interior spruce-ups since December. Both cars got identical treatment, with the goal of setting up maximum durability for the next round of rain and grime. On my Audi, this also gave me the opportunity to do a full inspection, so I know for sure what I'm up against for a corrective detail later this spring. Anyway...

Wheels & wells: Megs APC 3:1, CG Citrus Clear; two-bucket, EZ-detail brushes, foam/mesh mitt.

Finish wash: CG Citrus Clear; two bucket, foam mitts.

Clay: Blackfire Poly II; Poorboys S&W 3:1.

Exterior Glass: Megs 105 by hand where needed to remove spots; Blackfire WD.

Paint: Wolfgang PPE; two coats of Wolfgang DGPS.

Dressing: Zaino Z16.

Somehow I totally hacked the upload of my 'during' pics, which is a bummer, but realistically it's not like we've seen thousands in other threads. Dirty wheel....clean wheel, door handle scratches....door handle scratches gone, yada yada. Here's the one shot I coddled together of both cars late yesterday afternoon:

The Lexus has been in the family for just over six years. I've cared for it since new, and always enjoy working on it. The clear is very easy to polish, and the color is perfect for an LSP like DGPS. Also, that pic doesn't show it, but the car has a pretty full clear bra package, which hasn't yellowed at all in nearly six years, and still takes light polishing and sealant (Blackfire WD) beautifully. The Audi was a service loaner for 11 months before I bought it...lightly abused by countless folks, and, ahem, "cared for," by dealership, ahem, "detailers." Oy. As you'll see in the pics below, I have plenty of swirls and RIDs to work on, along with a few scratches so deep that only a repaint will correct them.

Today, following the second coat of DGPS, my wife had to leave...so no pretty Lexus pics. However, I took a short drive to Pacifica to take advantage of the beautiful day.

For giggles, I'll close with a couple of shots with a 'tungsten' white balance setting:

Thanks for taking a peek. The bottom line - DGPS is absolutely one of my favorite LSP's. It's my absolute go-to for dark colors, where the extra bit of gloss and wetness makes everyone think you've applied a carnauba.

Thanks! FWIW, I was able to salvage some of the shots during the effort.

Before & after of the Audi's left-rear wheel:

Detail work at my place is, ahh, interesting. The house faces close to due west, but right behind it is a large hill. We're pretty close to the coast so even when temps are in the 70's (we'll occasionally see 80's in the summer), it very quickly cools as the sun starts to go down. By 4pm yesterday, it was already down to the low 60's, with a quickly rising dew point temperature. This means bad things for applying sealant, allowing it to set up, and then removing it. I pretty much finished just in time, but still had a bit of buffing work to finish this morning.

Here's a shot of both, while the sealant is setting up. It was still sunny in the back yard, and this was only 4:15pm or so.

Finally, here are a couple of 'finished' shots of the Lexus:

I know this is nothing dramatic or exciting...thanks for taking a peek!
