Here's the deal, 2008 Tundra, dark blue metallic, dang near immaculate, with 4-5 scratches on tailgate and hood. They are pretty minor and I think they can be buffed out.

Have a flex 3401, all necessary pads, M105, M205, and WG and Pinnacle swirl removers amongst other things. Can I spot polish with 105, then do the whole truck in 205 before wax/sealant and not notice the spot correction with 105?

Anyone with experience or suggestions? Trying to work with what I have........

Thanks for the help!

I basically just did that. i wanted to use 105 on the whole car but was having trouble with the 105. it was very hard to get off so i just used it on the scratches and did the rest with 205. end result was good

Good question. I have a few deeper scratches on my hood that I have no idea where they came from. I was considering the same thing when I do my winter detail. Spot buff with M105, then M205 the whole car, or maybe try a finer polish first like TPnS or SF4500. Interested to hear opinions from the more experienced.

Yes you can spot buff the scratches and then polish the truck with M205. You will not notcice any hazing that M105 left if you have your technique down pat.

Spot buffing is geat for small concentrated areas.

If the 105 removed the defects you may want to try Meg's Ultimate Compound, works pretty much the same IMO but longer work time and easy to remove.
Then follow up with 205.
I always give the same advise of the two compounds.

What pad will you use with your Flex when you 205 the entire truck?

If I was using M205 as my polish, I would use a white CCS pad. If I was using it as more of a 2nd compound step, I would use orange, but then would follow with a lighter polish with a white pad.

I do this with my own car.
I spot correct with the M105. Then I polish the entire car car with M205. I cannot see any difference from where I spot corrected.
