These 2 products look similar. Wondering if they are. I see the Mirka has 4000 grit available where the finest Meguires has is 3000. Are there any other differences I'm missing & is one supposed to be better than the other?

I was thinking of trying it wet on some stage 3-4 gel coat. It's mine so I don't mind it being the Guinea pig. Might try it on headlights as well. Not sure in my abilities to try it on paint just yet. I would like to get a little shine back to the gel coat if possible. The boat is 25 years old, hull is in decent shape but inside has seen its share of sun & could use some help. Not sure painting it isn't the best option but time & funds won't allow that anytime soon.

huh, I thought Mirka made MEGUIAR'S I woulda figured they were the same. I too am interested in the differences.

I wanted to try the Unigrit Discs, but they seem to be discontinued(?)

So then I considered 3M's Trizact, but the cost told me no.

I ended up getting sanding/finishing discs from the Mirka Abralon line.

I wanted to do some damp sanding on car paint with these. Used on a PC.

Mike Phillips, did I screw up by getting this?

On my test panel, I used the 1k, and followed up with 2k. Then compounded. Everything appears fine, so far.
