Had this customer contact me a few weeks ago about getting his Infinity done. He said that when ever the sun shined on the paint, the paint looked milky. My first thought was oxidation, but said it looked like it was heavily swirled. Then he proceeds to tell me he just had it detailed two weeks prior. I decide to meet the guy, as he is heading to the Mall of GA to pick something up. When I first see the car from a distance, it looks fine. Once I get out and put my light on it to look at the condition....wow....just wow. Worse case of micro marring I have ever seen. Someone tried to wet sand the whole car and failed....failed miserably.

Anyways, someone screwed this guy. So I tell him, he came to the right person and it can be fixed. Well after finally getting some good weather went out to the middle of nowhere today to get this car back to looking like it should. This should note that, you get what you pay for. Cheap detailers = cheap work. Cheap detailers = expensive work for better detailers to fix. Note the before pics...the whole car looked like that...so it was kinda pointless getting a ton of befores as the paint looked the same all the way around. So anyways...after all the work, corrected the sever micro marring and got the guy roughly 98-100% correction all the way around.

Nice resurrection Dr. Frankinfinity! Gotta love the pools of paint!

Holy crap! What did the previous detailer do, dry buff with a yellow pad via DA or something? That is the worst case of micro marring I have ever seen. Awesome save!

very nice work!!

how long did the correction take?

Wouldn't you just love to run some tape down the middle of the car for a total half & half and take it to show the hack how the car is supposed to look? All in the name of edumacation, of course. :D

The problem with the clueless is they don't know they're clueless. A wakeup call would be doing them a favor.

Beautiful work!

FWIW, for those that dislike tire dressings, after they've been thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed, I've been giving 'em an ONR wipedown and then dry 'em off. Leaves a fairly decent dark, clean finish.

That car went from looking ruined to beautiful.

Awesome job!

That was a great recovery! What makes you think they wetsanded it? Are you saying they wetsanded--compounded--done? So what we are seeing in the before pictures is compounding swirls? Because it doesnt' seem like there were sand scratches left since SIP/orange/DA (which isn't that aggressive in the wetsanding context) seems to have taken everything out.

I'm just asking because it just looks like a dealer hack job (a one-step with a dirty wool pad on a rotary). "What do you mean it looks terrible? We buffed the whole car!"

solid pics! can't wait to be on this level of expertise...just give me 15 years:)

Damn!! the 50:50 shots are unbelievable!!

Great job indeed! :dblthumb2:

Great save...I'm sure your client was very happy to SEE the difference. Excellent work & the 50 / 50 shots are amazing!!!:xyxthumbs:

It's a good feeling to see your customers face after saving their car! Great job! Awsome pics.

Yes I meant, wet sanded and then compounded, with most likely a wool pad and left at that. Because after I was done the orange peel level was different around the whole car, noticeable areas where it had once been wet sanded.

Could you explain to me what the term "orange peel" means. I have these micro swirls on my car and have had a dickens of a time getting them out. While mine are nowhere near this severe, they are noticable to me and annoying since I have spent hours and hours trying to get them out.

Could you explain to me what the term "orange peel" means..

Its when the paints finish is bumpy. Think of an actual orange with all the bumps and crevices. Paint can give the same look. Sanding/compounding flattens it to allow it to reflect light accurately.
