I see Mobil 1 now has an "Advanced Clean" formulation that "cleans your engine in one oil change" and "prevents up to 100% of harmful sludge formation". Here is the list of Mobil 1 formulations, from their website:

Mobil 1 Advanced Clean
Mobil 1
Mobil 1 High Mileage
Mobil 1 Extended Performance
Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage
Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy
Mobil 1 Truck and SUV
Mobil 1 Hybrid
Mobil 1 ESP (this is for European cars with particulate filters)
Mobil 1 FS European Car Formula (this is for European cars without particulate filters)
Mobil 1 Super Car
Mobil 1 Classic Car (for cars from 1951-1996)
Mobil 1 C40 GT (for Porsche GT engines)
Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck
Mobil 1 Racing
Mobil 1 Racing 4T (racing performance for 4-cycle motorcycles)
Mobil 1 V-Twin

Now I'm not saying that any of these products are the same, but it seems like their goal is to have a product that will appeal to anyone who is perusing the oil shelf...I half expect there to be additions like "Mobil 1 for Side Sleepers" and "Mobil 1 Gluten-Free".

Or maybe they just are taking cues from Chemical Guys or Meguiar's.

I'm over on Ramforums and BTOG foum. Much like this forum, there are some incredibly smart enthusiasts that know their stuff. Oil samples studied regularly. They have the knowledge and reciepts to prove it. There are alot of oils, but each have their own addative packages, so there are in fact differences. Alot of engines like certain things. It's finding the oil formulation and weight you engine likes best. These guys have figured out alot.
Right now if your looking for an oil to get a sort of deep clean, Valvoline Restore & Protect is proving to be a front runner.

It's dizzing for sure. And they keep changing stuff so if you aren't researching before every oil change, you might not find your particular oil. It's not just mobil. Pennzoil has a bunch too.

On the positive side, we have amazing synthetic oils for about the same price as they were in the 90s.

For Ram trucks with the Hemi, HPL oil is gaining huge praise. Redline 5W30 is nicknamed "Hemi Honey" as one of the top choices. PUP 5W30 with Lubgard is a big 2nd choice.
I am running PUP 5W30 in a Pentastar engine as well. Amsoil 10W30 in another vehicle.
Oil is oil, but just like detailing, there really is no one size fits all for the enthusiast seeking the best. Especially now when we want our engines to run as long as possible trouble free. Key is also shorter oil changes than manufacturer recommends.

I bought a jug of Advanced Clean when Walmart had a Walmart Cash deal on it. I figure I'll run that next oil change and then back to Advanced Fuel Economy, which seems to be the cheapest for me.

I think some of the variations are legitimate and others are "chemical guys" approach.

Some of those like European Car Formula, Super Car, C40 GT, Diesel Truck, and maybe even V-Twin probably car very specific certification from an automaker, motorcycle builder. or engine maker, or are blended to specifically meet to meet those certifications but didn't pay for the official "seal of approval". Others seem to be non-manufacturer specific, but still very specialized like the Mobil 1 Racing and Racing 4T. Those probably are specifically formulated for very high levels of heat.

The rest? Well..... do you need to distinguish between extended performance and extended performance high mileage? Not sure how you'd do that. If you drive a lot and drive hard, just shorten the change interval.

I'll cast a vote for Mobil 1 No-Dairy for those lactose intolerant folks out there.

I guess I'm going to have to use that in my wife's car...unless they come out with "Mobil 1 A2". I'm also wondering if they will come out with a "Mobil 1 EV" that you can buy, just in case. You know, like if you can't get Top Tier electricity.
