Has anyone wanted to start mobile who had equipment but not proper transportation (truck/van) or who vehicle may have failed to operate and need a vehicle until yours was repaired. thinking to load a rental (uhaul) and take the show on the road just doing basic washes, wash and dry paint, dress tires, vacuum interior floor mats and seating about two hours per car, not AUTOGEEK STANDARDS since most only clean and shine with all the salt residue on vehicles and roads

Not a bad idea if in a pinch. Just have to factor in rental cost, insurance, gas difference, etc. The rental company may have restrictions as well so check with them (or read the fine print).

I have spoken with a quite of few folks and find a large some say it's better to have a USED MOBILE RIG (van/pickup) because being self contained (carrying generator, pressure washer and a hundred (100) gallons of water TANK) is going to burn out transmission, SO looking for input on used vehicles most say get a beater I look at small cargo vans because I want to have my equipment on site and not forget something or need something and don't have it with me, most of the vans I see are 10 or more years old or very high miles for a fair price, than again what is a fair price for a good beater?

I think renting would be pretty expensive. Why not buy a used vehicle instead?

When I started 6 years ago, I used my Hyundai accent hatchback for the first year. It was a very tight fit to get all my gear and products in the vehicle but I made it work.

The following year I purchased a used Dodge Caravan for 2500$. Looking back I would have chosen an other brand because Dodge are just the worst built vehicles you can buy. I have severe rust issues every year and have to repaint part of the truck every spring when I take it out of storage. I also have several mechanical and electrical issues every year. So when I decide to replace it, it will not be a dodge ;)

With all that being said, 2500$ for a minivan plus maybe 3500$ in repairs and repaint over 4 years is nothing compared to renting a vehicle.
