Ie $0.50/mile or $0.25/mile or something like that?

Or no charge at all?

I'm not saying I'm going to charge or anything. I'd just like to know what the general consensus is on charging for travel. If you guys do/it's an expected fee, then I'll charge accordingly.

If you guys don't/detailers don't typically charge for travel time, then I won't charge.

I believe I have heard others say they do it by an hourly rate.

I do not charge if the detail is less than 20 miles away from home.

If the detail is 25 miles or more from home i will charge .50 a mile. Never really cared for it since i pack all my stuff in a tiny Toyota Matrix with a 1.8L.

Today however i am detailing a Volvo Semi Truck one town over and had to pack it all in to a Minivan so i am charging .50 a mile.

Travel is incorporated into my prices. My prices for the county above and below mine are slightly higher to compensate for the travel. I don't disclose this but a couple people have questioned it and I simply explain and they say "ok, makes sense". They're willing to pay the extra for my services :)

I don't charge for mobile/pick up within my county. Anything past that I charge to cover my expenses.

I don't charge extra for anything within a 20 minute drive. Outside of that I add accordingly for fuel up to 1 hr. If it's over an hour drive, I give the price up front which includes time and fuel. ALWAYS be up front about travel and fuel. You do not want to sell yourself short and get your butt kicked on fuel costs.

Just like everyone else, I have a set distance I will go without charging.

i have an radius that i cover with no charge.
if the distance is far , i take in consideration the time i spend to get there and back , the mileage round trip , the gas round trip and if i have a helper i count his time round trip.
also the project has to be consistent to make that trip.
all the extra fees or charges are detailed to the client for approval before any schedule or trip.
