Meguiar's Online has this message posted:

Dear Community Members,

Due to ongoing technical issues, we have temporarily closed the forum. Our team is actively working towards a resolution, as we are committed to reopening the forum as soon as possible.

We appreciate your patience and understanding and look forward to welcoming you back to the MOL community soon.

Sincerely,

Meguiar's Online Team

Does anybody know anything about this?

Hopefully just some maintanence. It's not crazy active, but loke here and Autopia, alot of historic info from the busy years.
Funny, it clicks right away to Megs forum, but the first look when I see 'MOL' is 'ministry of labour'. 😁

Agree. If it was caught up in the AWS outages, you likely wouldn't even get to that message as their entire forum environment would be inaccessible. The verbiage seems to sound like it's something more localized, i.e. the database getting corrupted, an upgrade went sideways, security issue, etc.

I think that forum is doomed in its present form. I pop in there every few months and their literally has been only a couple posts at most between each visit. That message has been up for a bit now, long before the AWS outage...

Part of the problem (like here) is that there seems to be very little management participation. A few months ago I asked a question and it took several days before someone from Meguiar's responded.

Adam's forum is also not very busy.

Reddit is active with many posts about issues that cannot be fixed - failing clearcoat, etc.

That and new product conversations drove a lot of conversation. I don't think the PBMG brands or Sonax have brought out anything new or any updates to existing products in a very long time.

Didn't someone just ask about a new PBMG product recently? I want to say it was a Blackfire product, but looking at the Autogeek site I see this Wolfgang product that I don't remember, a HydrO2 kind of product:

Its a sad thing to watch, but detailing as a hobby is dieing. We have people desperate to "fix" their paint before getting rid of their car or hopes of fixing their new to them car, then they are gone. I'm glad I was a part of the peak and the short revival during covid lockdowns. The saddest part for me is many kids around driving age view cars as nothing more than an appliance that they don't care to learn about.

Are you sure it isn't just forum participation as a hobby is dying? It's hard for me to believe detailing is dying when there are a bazillion companies now and almost as many YouTube channels hawking them.

If you follow Facebook or youtube, or visit reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoDetailing/) you find a lot of discussion.

As for PMBA products, they have been making some changes. The DP line is way down and labeling looks more like CG. However, is PMBA marketing products on any venue?

No, it's dying in general. There's too many problems in the world now than to worry about swirled paint.

I don't have any objective evidence, just based on my observation of aquantances interest and the shelves of places that sell detailing products. In my area, you are considered a weirdo if you wash your own car. In my old neighberhood, people would walk by and tell me about a place I could take my car to get it cleaned....

So rep from Megs said they are working on the site, which from the sounds may be redesigned a bit. The holdup is legal, 3M. So they said they are looking to be back up around just over a month or so, in the new year.
So hopefully, like this site and Autopia, everything archived is all saved. Lots of great info from years gone by, all around.
