Menzerna Power Lock Polymer Paint Sealant, Menzerna auto sealant, car sealant, paint sealant protectant

I guess the Menzerna USA products are becoming Jescar (I presume the first half of that name is CEO Jeff Silver's initials). The plus side of this is that perhaps the new German Power Lock Ultimate Protection will be available here soon.

Same great formula, new name. :dblthumb2:

Yeah, that seems to be the Menzerna story...I can't keep up anymore with all the name changes :( People post a product name, and I'm like "what is SF3800?" Oh, it's what used to be called SF4500...wait, what's SF4500? Oh, that used to be PO85RD...

I hope that the chart below will help to reduce the confusion with the Menzerna factory relabeling of the automotive polishing products.

There newest Detail Spray is called Jescar. I got a bottle of that too. That is (I believe) for North America Branding

I had written a brief explanation elsewhere of our new direction and thought it might be a good idea to include it here. We have been so involved in making these changes and preparing for SEMA that we did neglected to properly get the word out about Jescar Finishing Products. Here is the message that hopefully helps to explain what is happening:

Jescar has been the representative and importer of Menzerna products since 1978 for the North American market. Jescar has been supplying buffing and polishing products and supplies to industrial finishing market such as furniture, musical instruments, metal finishing, and automotive beginning in 1999. Our concentration in the guitar market led to our development of Jescar fret wire which is now the international standard for all guitar manufacturers. Our work in the automotive market began with supplying the OEM assembly plants with newly developed polishes that proved to be great performers against the major existing supplier. We entered the detailing market by introducing some of Menzerna's OEM polish formulations, and the products were very well accepted by the detailing community. We soon realized that having only a medium compound and a polish were too limited, so we worked with various international chemical companies to develop our own high performance products that were not available from Menzerna. The result was our Power Lock polymer sealant, followed by Paint Refresh detail spray and Color Lock carnauba wax, all sold under the MenzernaUSA brand as supplements to the core Menzerna polishing compounds. With the success of these MenzernaUSA products and requests to expand the line further, we made the decision to rebrand the MenzernaUSA products under our Jescar company name. The result is our new brand name, Jescar Finishing Products. This decision coincided with the new Menzerna labeling program which was necessary to create an international labeling standard that did not exist before.

With the rebranding to Jescar we took the opportunity to improve the Power Lock with additional advanced polymers, and now the product is known as Power Lock Plus. Color Lock and Paint Refresh will remain the same formulations as before. We are nearing completion of our development of additional new detailing products that will be introduce in 2016. This will expand our Jescar Finishing Products offering to provide a complete system of Menzerna polishing compounds with innovative detailing products from Jescar.

We are working on the redesign of the Jescar website which will have two major sections: Jescar products for the guitar/musical instrument market and Jescar Finishing Products for compounds and detailing products.

I hope that this explanation provides some insight into our new direction and would be glad to answer any questions about our new product lineup.

Thanks Jeff! I'll be using your products for the first time Saturday and can't wait!!!

Thanks for the chart, that should help a lot.

Is this a different product from the Menzerna Power Lock Ultimate Protection?

Not to be a Debbie Downer, I love my Menzerna products, but, with the name changes, the complex variety of 2000,3000,4000,4500 SHC300, FG400. Or whatever I need to now cross reference the chart for to get the new item. Now there is a new company name... I think HD/3D gets it...K.I.S.S.

Too bad. There's tremendous brand equity in the Menzerna name. Jescar as a name sounds weak.

I agree that Jescar sounds like less of a quality name than Menzerna. I started detailing less than a year ago and chose Menzerna because of the name (sounds German) and many google searches referenced Menzerna and Mercedes Benz together. Jescar sounds like a name made up by a 5yr old for his dog in a Disney film. I told my accountant I used Menzerna on his car and it is German Quality and he was already impressed with out seeing the results. I wish the name would stay Menzerna so I would not have to feel that the name change is the beginning stage of a corporate sell off or merger. This happened to me with other products and has never felt good. I feel less loyal to a brand that feels it needs to change its Family name.

I'm confused..

Are all the Menzerna products going to be labeled as Jesco?

For the record, I really dislike the new labeling system, and urge the company to return to the previous system for the sake of keeping things simple. I don't currently know how big the market is here for Menzerna, but the detailers across the nation have come to rely on the previous system as industry standard, much like Meguiar's has with their M105, and M205 products.

In my observation, Menzerna was well on it's way to solidifying itself as industry standard based on the name and label recognition, and now it's a total mess. Some vendors have mentioned that product is being returned to them because the end user isn't here on AG, and has no idea what's in the bottle. Meguiar's sets the example again, with their ubiquitous tan professional line bottles that enjoy immediate recognition, and a reputation for high quality and dependable performance. The previous labeling system for Menzerna was rapidly arriving to the same destination.

In short, I'm extremely disappointed in the decision to make the change. I'm glad that I know how good the products are, based on previous experience, otherwise I may have never even tried them out.

From the chart it also looks like there won't be any polishes or compounds sold in 16oz sizes anymore, only 8oz and quarts.

Are all the Menzerna products going to be labeled as Jesco?

I thought Jeff was pretty clear, that MenzernaUSA/Jescar, as the US importer for Menzerna GmbH, filled out the product line with what they felt were missing products for the US market, using their own sources. It's only those products (Power Lock, Color Lock, Top Finish, and Paint Refresh) which are going to be relabled to Jescar.

I don't think that's fair. I don't think the new labeling is any less or more confusing than the last round, just different. Most of the problem has historically been continual change, not the actual names/numbers/descriptions. Although I have to say I'm baffled as to why Intensive Polish went to Intensive Polish 2000 and now has the "retro" designation of PO91E.

As far as Meguiar's being the "standard", there is a thread going on right now about confusion between M100, M101, and M105, and if you wanted you could throw in D300, M84, M85, and M95, which are all labeled as compounds--that's seven.

Ha! I never learned the "old" Menzerna numbers. The last products I had were 106FA, SIP, and PO85rd.

Ha! I never learned the "old" Menzerna numbers. The last products I had were 106FA, SIP, and PO85rd.

There was also PO106FF, and some different PO85's with different suffix letters--now THAT was confusing.

The biggest problem right now is there was SF4000 and SF4500, which are now SF3500 and SFP3800, and SIP went to Super Intensive 1500 to Medium Cut Polish 2400. I can see having difficulty making a suggestion to a forum member who says they are disappointed with the finish from SFP3800, and me suggesting "I have a bottle of SF4500, you should try that, it's finer", or suggesting to someone that isn't getting enough cut from their Medium Cut 2400 that they should drop to Super Intensive 1500, if I don't carefully check my scorecard first.

Heck, forget other forum members, I'm going to get confused in my own cabinet, my quart of SF4500 may outlive me.
