The makita forced rotation/free spinning combo is no flex 3401 in my opinion as far as correction is concerned but it is more versatile. No not because of the ability to switch to free spinning(although great for machine damp sanding). But u can use 3”, 5” and 6” pads all with gear driven consistency. Mine was on the shelf until I became short on space in my Honda CRV detail vehicle.
