I was watching YouTube videos from a channel called Sweet Project Cars. This guy uses Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish all the time as a compound agent for paint before polishing and waxing. He seems to get good results and he is using a Dewalt rotary polisher. Anyone ever heard of using this stuff on paint?

Since my tub of Mag & Aluminum Polish‘s label says:
“Not recommended for gold plating, chrome,
anodized, painted or coated metals”
...I don’t use
it as ascribed by the YouTuber: ‘Sweet Project Cars’.

•On the other hand:
-If you do anticipate using it on vehicles’ painted
panels, it would behoove you to do a few well
chosen out-of-the-way “Test Spots”.

With the millions of YT videos out there, trying to distinguish what is truth and what is paid BS is almost impossible.

What I ask myself is this: There are hundreds of extremely capable products that are specifically designed for clear coated paint systems.

I guess my question is this........ Why the experiment with a product designed and marketed by a proven company to use on wheels??

I was not intending on using it for that. I just thought it might be an industry secret or something.

If it were, there would be about a thousand posts on here about it.

I'm not saying the guy on YT is a liar, but............

I've used the stuff on exhaust pipe tips with success, but I couldn't imagine using it on paint. Even if we ignore the terrible things the abrasives would probably do to your paint, I'd think it would be a huge mess and the polishing oils would really difficult to remove. Not sure that tiny tub of polish would get you very far either. You'd go through a lot of product.
