For those considering Dr. Colorchip, I recently used the product on a relatively deep chip 1/4 x 1/16 of inch and 2 smaller chips. (which was actually a dent that was first removed). I applied several layers -- which is not shown on many of the videos I found on YouTube. I am also including a link of the review video I put together.

I ordered that about 3-4 months ago, but mine didn't come with a squeegee. The squeegee makes it look much easier. I Didn't try multiple coats, which I am going to go back an do, but the color match was spot on and the chips are much more difficult to see.

I bought my truck used this past October. It's a 2011 Silverado. Someone had touched up the chips previously, but the still stood out like a sore thumb. For some reason, Dr. Color Chip hid the chips much better. I was impressed.

I'm going to call them and see if they can send me a squeegee.

Hi Ryan,

1) The squeegee was extra - 3.95, but I love that thing - totally agree it makes the process much easier and more precise. Much less waste! Another ideas is to by the smaller one, and cut in into 3 sizes (I just thought about that).

2) Layers: Yes, a point I didn't make in my review is that by getting a more level repair, it will not only be less noticeable, but it also avoids wax, etc. getting in the extra gaps. That is worth the extra time for a couple layers --- if needed in my opinion.

3) I think I will ask about them color... it would be nice if it was a bit lighter --- it would be even better! But overall, I am very satisfied, and I could not see using anything else for small chips and scratch repairs.

Last, here is the before and after image used in the video.

Not to be a smart ass, but is this $60 kit any better than the $16 bottle that the factory itself sells as touch up?

It's 100% better. I could never get a smooth consistent coat with OEM paint.

Depends on what your "factory" is. BMW touch up paint is nowhere near $16, but not the price of dr.colorchip either. However when you consider what you get with the kit compared to the dealer it's a much better deal. Also dr.colorchip gets paint codes that the dealer can't get anymore

I have used Dr. Colorchip to fix several clients "road rash" and all of them have been amazed at the results. If you top it with a good sealant or Opti-Coat - it looks really good.

Aren't the paint codes from the serial numbers?

yea sorry i should have been more clear. i meant they can get paint codes that the factory itself doesn't produce anymore like older generation cars. my dealer told me they couldn't get the color for my e36 but dr.colorchip was able to mix it up for me

Used it last weekend. I like the kit.

I can use the pen touch up too but this makes it easier to use with their solution they provide for clean up.

Quick follow up - I have only used the brush and thumb method. I just looked at their "squirt and squeegee" video on the website and would not go that route. It looked like a drip fest on unwanted areas waiting to happen and you can see the white smears on the black plastic at the end of the video.

Take the extra time and use the brush and you will have fantastic results.
