Spent some R and R time with Tori yesterday and today. 800 miles on her and I am really loving this car. I also am really glad I got the Special Edition. The little "tidbits", the red stitching, the alum pedals, and the red gauges, makes the interior a bit more pleasing. Obviously the exterior lower spoiler add ons are nice as well. Don't get me wrong, she's no Mustang.... but that's ok. It's like a Jekyll and Hyde thing. I drive slow and like a gramma in the TSX, but like an animal with Marilyn
. Both cars have their purpose... and the TSX is to carry myself and my family in classy style.
Another nice surprise was my mpg and overall range. I went through a whole tank driving in pure city, and I got 24 mpg. That's actually close to the mpg I got in my Civic (27/28ish). I have yet to go through a whole tank on the highway to see how good I can get. Also, my range is approximately 350 miles so far, with less than 1/4 tank to go. I would think that on a full tank, I can get well over 400 on the highway! That's amazing for a small to mid size sedan. I can't say the same for the 5.0!!!
I also love how Acuras look in general... and our TSX is no different. Folks who see it automatically think it costs a fortune, but we all know it does not. Hell, my Odyssey minivan cost more...lol. Whenever the wife and I drive it, I just feel like I have to dress up. LOL. I just think all current Acuras, esp the TSX, look very classy.
The color... I have to admit, my first choice for a S.E., was Red... but when I saw Tori on the showroom floor, dressed in Silver Moon, I knew she was the one for me. The color is classy, and stays clean a bit longer than my black odyssey or kona blue stang
. It shimmers like liquid metal when fully detailed
The ride is also very pleasing. It's firm but not jarring, while maintaining that luxury ride. The steering is also nicely weighted... maybe a little too light sometimes, but still feels great. The 5.0 is firm and jarring at times... again, I love them both. Just a time and place for each.
The paddle shift automatic is also quite fun. I try to use it when I can, esp if traffic opens up. I think my only beef to it is that sometimes, I noticed that when pushed hard, it doesn't downshift quite when I command it to...almost like a lag. Then again, I'm nitpicking. If it were up to me, it'd be a 6 speed just like the 5.0, but wifey has to be able to drive it.
Trunk storage is another pleasant surprise. I can fit two strollers, a diaper bag, and a pack and play, with room for a few more things
The power could be more, as always, but for its intended purpose and the size and weight of the car, I think it's just right. It's a great balance of power to fuel economy. I won't even go into the 5.0's power superiority here lol:dblthumb2:
I have yet to find a major flaw with my TSX... aside from the sometimes light steering, the finicky downshifting, the only other thing I can think of is maybe more rear seat room for the kids? hmmm...
Forgive me if I am preaching to the choir about all my points I stated above, but, I guess you could this is our first forray into owning an entry level luxury car? What's weird is, my 2001 Acura Integra was nothing like this. The current TSX is leaps and bounds better than my old Acura in every way.
Anyway, I love my TSX. She's about a month old now, and am looking forward to more alone time with her
Lastly, I detailed her yesterday and today. Washed, then applied CG Glossworkz Glaze, Blacklight, Jetseal, then 50/50. Here are some pics of the exterior (HDR) and the interior (regular).
Enjoy!
