hi everybody,
had the first go with my rotary tonight, we took the bonnet off my offroader, and set about it with the mernz sample pack and the rubbishy pads that came with it, just to get some practice in :xyxthumbs:

now the paj gets abused offroad so the bonnet was full of deep scratches which obviously arent going to come out without having a respray but, and it hasnt been waxed in well over a year and ive never clayed it in the 5 years ive had it, the bonnet has got a net on it for holding recovery ropes and such, it gets stood on, heavy metal shackles attatched to ropes covered in mud and grit thrown about on it, so you can imagine the state the paint was in!

so, washed it with the turtlewax shampoo that was in my mates garage, then clayed it, took a good few goes with the clay and the clay was mingin after about a square foot, anyway, got some serious results with the menz stuff. obviously it is still covered in scratches but we couldnt beleive the difference it made!
Apologies for picture quality...or lack of, they were taken on a phone in a garage with flourescent tubes....but me mates taken some and they should be a better quality so ill get them up when ive got them aswell...

So, heres how the bonnet was when we brought it into the garage,

:laughing::laughing: i keep forgetting about that! hood/trunk/fender etc.

im really pleased with how its turned out.......and cant wait to do the rest of it! that was only supposed to be a practice peice but now ive seen the difference i might aswell get some more practice in before i tackle the VR6!:dblthumb2:

Nice job. What polishes did you use?

cheers guys,

i used menzerna, got a sample pack with 4 different types in and tried them all because it was just a practice and didnt matter how the paint looked afterwards,

2x with Menz power gloss S100
2x with Menz power finish PO85RD 3.02
1x with Menz super finish PO106FA
1x with Menz final finish PO85D

then just gave it a layer of turtle wax that was in my friends garage

happy with the polish though, wasnt expecting anywhere near that sort of gloss afterwards!

Love Menzerna, but you should look into Meg's 105/205 combo. You can cut it down to a 2 stepper instead of a 4 stepper.

im going to start looking into quite a few different things, me and a friend buy and sell cars, the hardest thing to do is get the paintwork looking immaculate! now i can start getting an idea of how well different ones work and what i find most comfortable using, but will definateley look in megs stuff, always heard good things about it, and 2 step will be less tiring when doing a whole car!:xyxthumbs:

You might also want to look into Optimum spray compound and polish...no dust.:buffing:
