First off I just want to say hey and thanks to everyone here on autogeek. I have always loved my vehicles and try to keep them looking as best as possible. I thought I was doing a pretty good job until I found this website and learned about special washing techniques and da orbitals. I thought as long as I gave my truck a weekly wash and wax about twice a year that I was doing all I could to keep my truck clean. I guess there is always room for improvement. I spent countless hours on this forum reading about different products and techniques before deciding to do anything. I wont be the first to say that I was about as skeptical as you could get when it came time for me to put the da on my paint and actually turn it on. However, after reading and understanding how the machine worked I became more confident that I would be able to pull off a paint correction and just pulled the trigger. Again without this forum none of this would of been possible so I want to thank Mike and eveyone else for their help.
I had several issues with my paint. Even though I still get daily compliments on my truck I was nearly ready to sell it just because I hated walking outside in the sunlight just to see swirls all over the truck. There were also tons of waterspots, etching in the hood from pecan and pine sap, and even paint overspray on the hood and roof that had been on the truck for over 3 years. The overspray was definitely a sore sight. I was at the point to either sell the truck or try and do the correction myself and if I messed it up just pay someone to correct it. Overall I was pleased with my results for a first time correction and the products that I had available.

washed with armorall car wash
clayed with meguiars mild and aggressive clay using optimum no rinse as the lubricant - the mild did not touch the overspray where the aggressive took most of it off with a lot of elbow grease but made it really hazy
m105 compound with lake country hydrotech 6" blue pad
m205 polish with lake country hydrotech 6" orange pad
wg dgps 3.0 with lake country hydrotech 6" red pad
griots da orbital
the hood and roof were in really bad shape so I compounded and polished both of them. After doing all that and it being my first time I was tired of the two step process so I decided to just polish the rest of the truck. Some spots could of used a two step process but for the most part the poslish performed to my satisfaction on the rest of the vehicle. I also need some smaller pads for the tighter areas of the truck and for the curves in the hood because the maching did not seem as effective there as it was not spinning the pads on these spots as well.
