So today I used the PC7424 along with some Pinnacle swirl remover #3. I used an orange CCS pad as well. I'm happy with the results. I can definitely tell there is a difference...but I feel it could be better. I did my entire hood using #3, #1, finishing glaze, and then sealed it. There is a big improvement, but I don't know if it's my CC, my skill level, or the products, but I feel like it could be better. I guess my expectations were just too high from seeing all the details on here from the pros. Either way...my hood looks fantastic. I have done my entire car with #3, and am going to finish up tomorrow morning. I'm hoping that once I put #1 on, then glaze it, then seal it that the minute scratches that I have on there now will disappear. I'll be sure to post some pictures when I get it done. How were your first times? What were your expectations? Have you seen improvements in your work each time you detail as you gain experience? Thanks guys!

It probably is the product. Menzerna probably would have given you better results.

I would say technique/product, depending on the car that combo could have been perfect. For example the last two details i posted the I used the same pads, and compounds. One came out to my greatest expectations the other left some to be desired.

From what i have found gm uses a harder clear then some. My first time with my truck i dont think i removed much of anything, then the second time i used some coarser compounds and slowed down a bit, and it came out great

I mean, I'm happy with the way it came out. It's only the first step. I could probably slow down a bit with the orange pad. I'm going by time 3-5 minutes like the video says because I'm still not 100% sure when the product is broken down. I mean, I could be breaking it down too much and marring the paint, and those are the results I'm seeing, or I'm not breaking it down enough. I'm also using a 6.5" pad. Two 5.5" pads came with my PC, and I think I like the smaller ones better.

Go with the 5.5 pads, plus after you move up from the orange pad you will see the finish looking better.

Yeah. The problem is that I only have two orange 5.5" pads. All the others are 6.5". So my process today was orange with #3, white with #1, grey with the glaze, and then grey again with the sealant. You think I would see better results using a blue pad for my LSP?

I see you have a Vette. What products are you using? My dad has a C6 as well and is planning on doing his tomorrow. I've warned him that it may take a few passes with the orange pad because of the CC. Apparently GM uses the same CC on all their cars. Is it good that I time myself while I do this, or is there a better way to know when the wax has fully broken down?

I donr know why but the Corvette vlear is harder than what your working with

Yeah...I should really get some Menzerna products. But I don't know...I'm happy with the results that I'm getting. I'm comparing them to the pictures I see on here, but they are using Menzerna most of the time so it's really not fair to compare.

Your dad has great tastes in cars-lol. You are going to need some Menzerna to work on his vette. I have used sip on it, 106FF, 85RD, and Ultrafina. I have used Souveran, Vintage and Swissvax Mystery as lsp's. I would have to agree with you, I believe GM is starting to use this clear on all their cars, but the clear on the Vette is a pain in the ass. I don't know about timing yourself, I would be more focused on watching the polish break down. This was just polished with Ultrafina and Swissvax Mystery.

Your car is beautiful!! I love black cars! I did a search for knowing when a polish, compound, etc. has broken down, and from what I read, it's when it flashes and turns into a talc like powder, and when using XMT #3, push on the head of the PC with about 15lbs. of force. So when it starts to look more powder like, it's time to stop?

Thank You. I wouldn't wait till it gets to a talc, more when it turns a transparent. Also I would use a little pressure with the pc for correction purposes.

Hmm...perhaps that's my problem...I wasn't using enough pressure. I feel like it wasn't breaking down enough, and that would be a result of not applying enough pressure correct?

That is part of it, I am not talking about using alot of pressure. Just a little, plus the length of time plays a major role in the polish breaking down. To me working the polish is more important than you worrying about how much pressure to use.

I'll have to work it in a little better when I finish tomorrow. I have a lot to learn...I mean what can you really expect on your first time. I was probably going a little too fast and not working it in as well as I could have. When taking it off with a MF, it was still...gooey...I guess is the word. Know what I mean?

Sounds like it needs to be worked a little longer. You are just starting out, a little more practice and you will be in good shape.

It takes getting the feel for it, also make sure your not using too much product.

Yeah...that's what I'm hoping haha. I have a bad feeling my dad is going to be disappointed haha. I talked him into buying all this stuff. I told him today that we need more pads and MF towels. He's like, we've already spent all this money and now we have to buy more?! I was just looking at the Menzerna stuff..it's pretty expensive. Then again...you get what you pay for. What do you think I should go with...SIP, Nano, and their APO-60? I don't need a compound or anything?

Yeah...I've been putting a quarter size amount like the video says...at least I think I am...I may be putting a little more. I think it's just going to take practice to really get the hang/feel of it. I think I prefer to put a bead around the edge of the pad rather than putting it all in the center.
