My Ghetto Pad Washer

I think the pad washer is a great idea, but I don't know how my non Rupes pads would hold up to a pressure washer. It seems like your Rupes pads would hold up ok since the foam is so coarse.

Have you tried using a pressure washer with other kinds of pads ?

Yup. No problem. I wouldn't use a gas pressure washer though.

Nice idea. Couldn't see quite clearly: how did you fasten the grit guard?

Thanks for the response and the information.

I have a gas powered pressure washer so I don't have a lot of use for a electric one. But after seeing how easy it was to clean your pads with your setup I am going to see if I can find a good high pressure nozzle or something similar that just goes on the end of a regular hose.

Anything to improve and speed up pad cleaning is at the very least worth a few bucks and some time.

Hadn't thought about putting it in a bucket. :D

I have one of those swirly attachments for my little PW and use it to clean pads, mitts, etc. but I put mine on a plastic Coke crate. I can stack them up so it's not on the ground, or just turn it upside down. Although when it's upside down you're likely to send a pad flying across the yard!

Have several of those crates for drying pads, mitts, brushes as well. I'd go nuts if they went missing.

Either way... I like "ghetto" over spending $140 for a freaking pad washer! ;)

I sliced open some hose and then zip tied it around the grit guard so it sits up higher in the bucket and jambs in place. You can use this set up to clean mitts, applicators, brushes, pads, etc... without having to worry about them launching across the parking lot - or dirt from the ground splashing back up on what you are cleaning.

Every one cin a while you come across one of those "What a GREAT idea!" posts. This is certainly one of them. Thanks!!

next time a bucket springs a leak I know how to re-purpose it now, thanks

This is an awesome idea. I have been using my hose nozzle on a grit guard just on the concrete. I had to be careful but it worked. This is a great idea for pads, mitts, brushes at the end of each wash as well. Thanks a lot for posting!!
