Here I'm working with the DeWalt using a 5" CG'S white hex pad with the m205.
Getting ready to apply a sealant.

Machine is super smooth and very easy to steer.
If your looking into buying a rotary read up on the DeWalt 849x.

First I spread the polish at 600 RPM's, then kicked it up to 1800 RPM's then jeweled some at 600 RPM's.
It fished down very well. :dblthumb2:
 
I've always liked the Makita more that the dewalt, that's just personal preference. But the new dewalt like you have seems very quiet in comparison to my Makita.

Nice video! I'm a rotary Guy through and through. Some jobs I wouldn't imagine even attempting without one. The 600 rpm setting seems super slow compared to my 600 rpm.

I noticed the same, the speed does seem slow at 600.
But in a way it's just right for me when I want to really buff at lower speeds.

It's very quiet.
Smooth gears.
Well balanced for a heavy weight.

My favorite feature of this DeWalt is how fast it responds when changing speeds, almost instead but flawless, not jerky.

I love using a rotary also, sure does help on big jobs. :dblthumb2:

I've been meaning to step up to a rotary. This gives me a little confidence. Thanks for the review and video.
 
If you want to step up buy you a decent model, one that has a proven track record.

I had a Makita for a few years and it got stolen, so I bought a cheap HF model and man it was like learning over again, balance isn't there, consistent speed isn't there , those two factors play a big role in the ease of operation.

The DeWalt is a machine that all one needs and some :dblthumb2:

Don't be afraid of a rotary just learn the correct way.
I tell people who are just learning to buy a good machine, get a few ultra fine pads and an ultra fine polish with little to no cut.
If you keep the speeds under 1000 RPM's it would be pretty hard to burn paint using such fine pads and polish along with common sense of course:)


One great feature that the 849x has is it holds it's set speed no matter what with the help of the electronic components inside.

Let me know if you find one, I have two of them but little flex.
I guess their so small is the reason it's so darn hard to find a 3 inch BP with good flexing abilities.
Thicker pads is best when using the small BP IMO.

I just ordered my first rotary. I took your advice and went with the Dewalt 849x. Now just trying to decide on pads and backing plates. Going with 3" and 5.5"
