Found this in the back of one of my drawers in the bathroom the other day. hmmmmm?

It's an inexpensive boar's hair shaving brush I got in a kit with some soap and quickly put away in favor of nicer badger brushes. It has a pretty tight knot of bristles so they're a little stiffer than the bristles on my long handled detail brush I got from CG. It did a great job getting into the nooks and crannies of the emblems of my wife's Tiguan I washed this morning. And it was easy to get in and around the lugs and other spots in the wheels.

Anyway, just wanted to post that tip. I hadn't seen anyone sourcing detailing tools from any bath and body departments before lol.

Thx! I'm always on the lookout for a good brush. Seems they are always either too hard or too soft to get where I need to get to.

Haha. I was thinking the same thing about mine- lot cheaper than the same kind of "detail" brush :dblthumb2:

I have used the De Carrand Sheepskin Wheel Cleaner and it works well.

I like this idea, I'm sure I can find these locally much easier than I can an actual detailing brush. So I have a question for the more experienced. A quick search brings up all kinds of different materials for shaving brushes so what should I be looking for? Boar's hair, silvertip, synthetics? Would it really make a difference? I'm going to have to go on a hunt now...

I've never seen a synthetic so I don't know what those are like. I can't imagine they'd be harsh though. I would think a silver tip would be a little bit of overkill. I don't even have one of those for my face! A standard, cheap, boar's hair is what I think would be best. I've seen one at Target and CVS/Walgreens. Van der Hagen I think.

I like it for the form factor. It's easy to hold and the way the bristles are knotted tight in the middle and spread out make it easy to jab into crevices and give it a few twists.

Awesome, thank ya! I'll have to go check out our Walgreen's and see what I can find. I have no idea what any of that means myself, those were just the terms I seemed to come across a lot.

What surprised me the most was some of the price tags of the brushes. I saw a couple that were $150-200! I can't imagine a brush is worth that much but what do I know. I shave on Mondays and that's it. I think I've had the same blades on my current razor for at least a year! Marine Vet and I can't grow facial hair to save my life! haha

Was planning on working on my interior and got this today from an art supplies store.

The brush is flat and soft and because the hairs are only 1" long... I can put some pressure on it if necessary. Bit expensive at $19 but it was bought in Manhattan and nothing is cheap here. Will see how this works out.
