Hi everyone,

Just got my G110V2 last week from AGO, but it doesn't seem to work as well as i thought.

1. I've centered the pad to the backing plate before i turned on the polisher, but the pad became off-centered when i turned off the polisher. Firm downward pressure has been applied.

2. When the polisher is on speed 5 or 6, it builds up heat quickly, within 30 seconds, smoke came out from the polisher and then burning smell. And the body of the polisher became very warm.

3. I tried to remove the backing plate, but it just doesn't come off no matter how many times i twisted the plate counterclockwise.

4. The polisher vibrates a lot until i couldn't hold it one-handed. I understand that vibration is usual thing for a DA polisher, but when i compare the vibration of the other G110V2 from online videos with mine, apparently my G110V2 has more vibration.

Backing plate used: 6 inch
Pad used: CCS White 6.5 inch Polishing Foam Pads

Can anyone please advise? Or any thoughts? Feed back please

Please help, i really love car detailing and would like to continue doing this for the rest of my life, but right now i'm stucked here in my very first car polishing experience.
Thank you. =)

I would contact AG Customer Service. Smoke should not be coming out of a polisher.

Not unless he's hiding his weed in there.. Just saying...

You realize you have to use the spindle wrench to hold the spindle from moving so you can unscrew the backing plate?

Did you leave the washer on the back of the backing plate? You must leave the washer on the spindle so it sits between the backing plate and the polisher.

Like others have said it sounds like the washer is not installed.
???

Same thing happened to me, but only after I replaced the old carbon brushes with new brushes. I thought my DA was going to die on me. Guess it was only the brushes breaking in. The smell later went away as I kept on using it.

What kind of extension cord are you using?

Could it be voltage difference?

As i'm using this polisher in Malaysia, the voltage here is 230/240V, but the tool requires 120V only...

There you go, the version you have was built and intended for US market. They make a 220 volt version. That is what you want.

What about the washer? Can you please refer back to post #10 and see if i'm placing the washer the right way? Thank you =)

Either one.

Take a look at the backing plate, see the little nubs (rivits)? What the washer does is to make sure there is enough distance between the backing plate and the housing. You don't want the two to make contact!

Make sense?

Bill

I've never seen anything like in picture #2 on a backing plate. Maybe its unique to the GV110, but on a PC and Griots, photo 1 is correct.

Is the machine the correct voltage for your area?

voltage difference. u should get G220V2. think it cost RM 1590... hehehe. can get in SG for less than 1K. Ive never used a polisher with diff voltage but ive seen a friend plug in a 120V charger into a 230V socket. poof! straight away fried.

Didn't aware of the voltage matter earlier...
Should i get a power converter in order to use the polisher?

u should get a new polisher. Makita 9227c only cost RM 800 in KL. just becareful, if stay at a spot too long can burn the paint. As for the converter, i think your Meg is already fried.
