I am in the market for a carpet extractor and have narrowed it down to these two.

Based on the info on Mytee's website, it appears that the two units are the same except for the tank sizes.

$300 seems like a lot of money for an extra 2 gal of capacity. Does anyone know if there are any other differences? It does seem like most of the Mytee "complaints" were on the 8070, so I wonder if the two are built to different quality levels.

Thanks.

Besides the tank volume the HP60 Spyder also offers more lift, (more vacuum), and a higher heating of the water.

We have both in the garage and everyone gets to use each model in my detailing boot camp classes. I have pictures of them in action but it's easy to take pictures and time consuming to make them magically appear on the interweb.

If you're doing volume interior work I'd go for the HP60 Spyder, not that the 8070 is a slouch but the HP60 Spyder is just a much nicer unit in all ways.

I know this wasn't always the case, but currently the Mytee site shows that all 3 auto extractors have the same water lift (130"), but as you note, the Lite has only a 1000W heater while the Spyder and Grand Prix have 1200.

EDIT: Just for clarification, back a couple of years ago Mytee rated the Grand Prix and Spyder at 137" of water lift, and the Lite at 107". I know this because I made a spreadsheet back then because, like the OP, I was trying to see what the differences were between the Mytee machines.

For mobile purposes, I'd recommend the 8070; for a detail shop, go with the HP60. If pack space in your vehicle or portability is a factor, you might consider the Aztec extractor.

I could be wrong but in my Power Point I'm pretty sure the HP60 Spyder offers 137 pounds of water lift. I'll check.

That's what's so great about a forum though is it's very self correcting.

Regardless, if a person or a shop does a lot of interior detailing including using an extractor the HP60 Spyder is the way to go.

I'm at the end of a very hot project, don't have much forum time in the last month or so but if I can I'll try to cyber dig up some pictures from my last boot camp class showing both extractors in action.

The car we cleaned came out like new by the way. It was this Suburban.

I edited my post just before you posted this--it was indeed just a couple of years ago rated at that, and the machines in the Garage probably are old enough to have that difference (137 vs. 107). I have a note that says by May 2013 Mytee was rating them all at 130. When I was researching this a couple of years ago there was a lot of disconnect between various sources on the specs for these machines, they may have been doing some running changes, etc.

I have ordered the 8070 from Nick. I will keep everyone posted.
