I'm looking to get a Mytee lite 8070 with dry tool,

I would be looking to use Meguiars APC 10:1 and maybe on heavily stained carpet/seats if needed Meguiars Super Degreaser 4:1.. would both be okay to use without a defoamer? As I'd be pre spraying, scrub then using the machine to extract.. or do I need to use a low foaming or dedicated extraction shampoo?

Or would the super degreaser 4:1 not be good in the machine but the Meguiars APC is okay at 10:1 and for heavy stains use maybe 4:1 APC or only 10:1 APC would you say? or would all products be okay?

Thanks,
Elger

Instead of using the APC and the Degreaser, I'd suggest using products actually formulated specifically for interior cleaning with extractors.

The products Paul suggested are what I show in my CR 3-day class and work great.

I don't believe the degreaser is intended to be used in an extractor. I'm also not sure the Megs APC is intended to be used in an extractor. I don't use or show using chemicals in extractors so I don't know if these two products would create foam but my guess is "yes".

Any janitorial supply company will carry a defoamer.

Also - something to think about...

The reason I don't show using chemicals IN the extractor is because then you're NEVER really clean rinsing the surface as you're alwasy injecting it or spraying it with the cleaner/water mixture.

Doing this leaves a residue behind and accelerates dirt build-up in the future.

It's a great idea to put your cleaner in your water tank when cleaning but the downside is you're injecting this cleaner and water mixture when you only want water for the final wet extraction passes. Dry extraction passes will remove the majority of the liquid but leave some level of residue behind.

You could purchase two units, set one up with cleaning solution and the other with just water.

Instead, PRE-CLEAN the surface with your cleaners and then use JUST hot water to rinse and extract the dirt and the cleaners to leave a clean surface behind and a residue free surface behind.

What I show in my classes works great and that is to use the McKee's Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner to clean upholstery and carpet and machine scrub the surface using Porter Cable polishers with Cyclo brushes.

Machines always out perform and by this I mean out-clean humans.

So spray the surface with the cleaner, machine scrub and then extract/rinse.

After that set an air mover inside the car with a couple of windows down about an inch or two for a couple of hours and the interior will be clean and dry.

Any chance of Autogeek carrying something like that? Certainly would be more convenient when buying your extractor and supplies here to be able to add that, rather than having to go to a separate janitorial supply store. :dunno:

White vinegar is the best deal there is for a defoamer.

Thanks for the replys.

Yes I don't mean I'd use any chemicals "in" the actual machine only using it to rinse, would you say I'd still need a defoamer with any of the products I mentioned? And if your not actually using the chemicals "in" the machine would the degreaser and APC be okay (safe for the machine)?

Thanks,

So just put in a couple ounces Richy? I believe I read somewhere else about vinegar being a decent defoamer.

Yes, the acid in it kills the soap.
