I have not read anywhere about this, but my sister just got a 02 Chrysler Sebring and it has single stage paint. It is severely faded and I plan to do a complete detail to it, but I was wandering if nano coatings can be applied to single stage paint? Thanks for any input in advance. :props:

the 02 chrysler should be base coat clear coat unless repainted

I haven't had the opportunity to try it myself on a ss paint but here is what the creators of a couple coatings have said
(taken from this thread http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...ew-extreme-testing-opti-coat-2-0-cquartz.html)

Avi of CarPro said about using his Ceramic Nano-tech on single stage

5.-Can Cquartz be applied to single stage paints of any age?
Well, this I'm not sure... If it’s very old it will remove some of the paint. The effect wont be good, we tested on acrylic paint and it didn’t effect so well. Remember this is not to replace clear coat!! Clear coat has 20~30 microns minimum.

6.-Consider a car with older single stage paint that is badly oxidized and faded and then polished to perfection and brought back to glossy condition. Will Cquartz lock in the gloss or have any effect stopping the paint from regressing to its faded condition?

I’m not sure about that and can’t give you an exact answer. We usually use it on normal car painted in Europe.

7.-Should you expect any color transfer from single stage paint onto your applicator if you later apply a second coat?

I think yes, but you need to try yourself.

And here is what Dr. G of Optimum said about using his Ceramic-Silicon Carbide clear resin coating on single stage:

3.-Can Opti-Coat 2.0 be applied to single stage paints of any age?
Opti-Coat 2.0 was designed for clearcoat paint and it should be applied after the paint defects are removed. We have not done any long term testing with this product on single stage paint.
There are several professional detailers that have applied Opti-Coat to single stage paint after removing all the defects and oxidation with great results. They might be able to provide more information on this application but the main purpose of this product is to protect clearcoat from the elements and premature failure due to over-polishing.

4.-Consider a car with older single stage paint that is badly oxidized and faded and then polished to perfection and brought back to glossy condition. Can Opti-Coat 2.0 lock in the gloss or have any effect stopping the paint from regressing to its faded condition?

Please refer to the previous answer.

I'll take that as a no lol. Thanks for the post Corey.

I have applied it to single stage paint successfully.... no ill effects that I've noticed.

No problem! I didn't take it as a no. Dr. G actually said people have had great results. Are you taking specifically about nano tech coatings? Which coating are you referring to?

You know I actually have used it on ss paint but not an entire car. I used both CQ and OC on a ss panel and also on some spots where the clear was gone on my green sl and had great results.

I also had wolfs body wrap coming in. I might try one and write it up on autopiaforums.

Gotcha, haven't tried that one.

Aquartz is pretty much Cquartz even tho they are different brands...but its hard to say its different when you purchase something form AQuartz that has CarPro label on it.

Also AQuartz PPF Titanium is the different one that is actually liquid PPF film.

I have used OG on SS paint with great results. The paint was very soft and very prone to marring from even the lightest touch and oxidized rather quickly. After using OG, oxidation has stopped and it can be gently washed now with out marring. Now I only have it on about a month and a half but already have noticed benefits from it..... time will really tell the truth tho.

From what I understand they are "functionally" very different but that's a long complex story that I have no business getting involved in.

As a consumer they look the same, packaged the same, some AQuartz items have CarPro labels on them, description, the logo with a letter change etc etc.

I do have to agree with you that I don't wanna get into the whole point fingers of who made what Corey.

But as a consumer....

I dont want to highjack this topic, but only to say there is not one product from the korean aquartz that is similar in its propriety to carpro line.. only reload sticker design looks little like and this we will change as well soon, since this korean guy copied all our stuff
and please dont compare at all cquartz to aquartz, the korean copy dont last more than a month on car surface, no beading, no gloss , and no hardness... you are welcome to test it.
dont be astonished from there pics at DB forum... any car coated when its fresh looks amazing, the question is after few washes and some weathering changes.

Not only does this statement apply to these products, but any LSP in general. Great post Avi, thanks for providing some info to everyone. :xyxthumbs:

That's good to know Avi.

It's just hard not too when I just started to browse sites to purchase items the one thing that was a bit confusing was CQuartz and AQuartz.

Same lettering, same labeling, description etc etc. The only thing that set you guys apart was the AQuartz Titan PPF.

Sorry if the AQuartz company pretty much copied you guys and are maybe out there to harm your name/rep. Hope you all can sort this out.
