What are you all using to clean these sjhiny Navigation/entertainment screens these days? I'm thinking a glass cleaner is 'ok' but what about the cloth to use on them?

I use a lens cleaning cloth with lens cleaner sprayed on the cloth. Also use this for the instrument cluster plastic. Been doing it for a year on my new car and has worked perfectly.

I usually use Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer (QID), which you can buy here or at retail (I also use it on my computer screens, etc.). I usually use a low-nap 16" microfiber towel. Fold it in quarters and turn to a clean side frequently or you'll redeposit dust on the screen. I also recommend spraying the towel, rather than the screen. Wipe the screen with the wet side, then turn to the opposite side of the towel to dry.

Any thoughts on these pretty slick-feeling 'nav screen' cloths? I'd think a little nap is needed, like you are mentioning.

I think those are just lens cleaning cloths renamed to cost more. A lens cleaning cloth and cleaner, such as Zeiss made for cameras with super expensive lenses should work fine be and has worked perfectly for me.

I will check them out today, thank you

I agree with both h8dirtycars and Setec ... either would work and I've used both. I tend to go with Setec's method more just because It's already there and fewer cloths maybe... but both are good methods... get this though... we detailed my dad's Jeep Grand Cherokee a few months ago not, first time since he bought it new to him at the dealer.

Anyway, the Nav Screen had 4 'dots' on the screen and turned out the owner was a woman that used A LOT of make up, it was all over the place, wheel, shifter, etc. It was make up on the screen, or the oils really, that had 'penetrated' the screen and was 'forever' in there... anyone else experience this?... i tried but couldn't get it out... just wanted to share that little story...

peace

This product does a great job at cleaning, and leaves a slick feel.

Ultima Screen Cleaner & Protector Bundle 4 oz.

Thoughts on a product like that helping with the 'oil' that has penetrated the screen?...

or does a problem like that mean 'new screen'...?

I wish i had a good picture. My bad for only getting a poor one... It's as if she pushed the same 2 or 3 'buttons' on the Nav Screen more often than others and the 'fingerprint' that was oily from the make up seems to just be permanently there... any thoughts?

thanks

I encountered the same "fingerprint" issues on the navigation screen of a 2012 Taurus Limited we just purchased. Cleaned it, but still has the fingerprins embedded on the screen.

Interested in hearing suggestions on this one.

IME this is the winning combination.

New to me that product is... lol....

any thoughts Eldorado on the 'oily fingerprint' not coming out of the screen? is it just there for good or something I might try?

For removing those "embedded" fingerprints, or just in general?

Embedded fingerprints on a touchscreen? Sure. It cleans my cats dirty paw prints from my LCD TV very easily. [anyone who’s got a cat knows how they like to walk along the top of the TV and then stretch their paws over the screen]

It’s also great for center consoles that have piano black trim and also woodgrain pieces + instrument clusters.

I can’t say for sure without actually seeing it in person, but I’ve never had a nav screen that didn’t turn out completely clean using this product.

Yeah, these other guys are talking about prints that seem to have penetrated the surface of the screen and they have been unable to remove with normal cleaning methods, perhaps makeup residue. I really don't want to start thinking about litter box residue on my TV...

My cats kinda weird, she’s got a litter box but she pees & poops outdoors 98% of the time. It’s been a good 2 weeks since she’s used the box and it’s perfectly clean. Lol.
