Here is the story in a nutshell. We have been working on a slow assembly of my brother's 1959 Chevy Impala. New black paint bc/cc done about a year ago and was sanded/buffed at the time, although not as well as could be, but that's just me. Now my BIL and I are working on detainilg the paint while trim and glass, etc is off car. We have been using Menz powergloss, SIP, and nano prior to glazing and wax.

The process that seemed to work the best was:

PG with lc ccs yellow 5"
SIP with LC CCS orange 5"
Nano with LC CCS white 5"
All done with a original Griot's ROB (I also have a PC)

Is the yellow pad too harsh? The SIP and nano work real well, but we are not as pleased with the PG. Is there another compound with a good cut and ease of use? I thought about ordering some M105 and 205 along with some additional pads. I may alsoget some Wofgang duo also, although more money and may not be necessary. I like to try new combos.

Most of the light stuff and hazing is coming out, although not as well as expected. Some RIDS remain also and others show up now that paint is shining better.

Just to note, if you think compounding and polishing paint is time consuming, try polishing stainless steel trim. you can spend days on one piece and this car is loaded with it. Also, I apologize for no pics, didn't have camera w/me that night.Feed back please

asking opinions on compounds/polishes is like asking them of LSP's - everyone has their favorites so you will get different answers depending on who answers and what THEY like. May or may not mean anything else is better or not, just what that other person prefers or whatever.

Here on this forum the Menzerna you are already using is a big favorite and i'm sure you will get people saying to stay with it and than help you improve your technique to get better results out of it.

As far as MY opinion, I use and really like the Megs M105/M205 combo.
The M105 has a more aggressive cut than the Menzerna but finishes down so well it's practically LSP ready. Follow it up with M205 and the end result is great.

I use the LC 6.5" CCS pads on a Flex 3401 DA. 95% of the time i'll end up with the combo of:
M105 with an orange pad
M205 with a white pad

I thought the PG dried out quick, dusted, and was generally not as easy to use as the SIP or Nano. I also had some 3M compound, but did not use. This is what the painter used to buff out after color sanding.
