In about a month, I'll be the proud owner of a new 2006 Mini Cooper S and I need some suggestions for what i'm going to need to keep my baby in tip top condition. I would prefer to buy a kit from autogeek, but I'm just kind of lost with "What do I really need?". The only thing I know I need to with is Wheel Wax. ;)

Thanks in advance
Eric.

First I would use DP Wheel Glaze over Wheel Wax, and everyone can chime in on their opinion on that, second, give us some info on the color.
But your best bet on a sealant would be Wolfgang Deep Gloss and maybe top with DP Max Wax.

It's dark silver body, black top, black mirror, black bonnet strips with 18" JCWorks double spoke wheels.

The kits that Autogeek sells are a good deal. I bought the DP wheel kit and it is an excellent value and provides all you need to clean and protect the wheels. I don't see it on the web site so maybe that kit is no longer available. You might consider the DP Exterior kit plus add some DP Wheel Glaze

Of course, you could also check out the Wolfgang and Pinnacle kits. In addtion, I think the Poorboys products are a great value.

For silver, i'd got with a sealant. I've always been able to get better flake pop out of silver with a sealant vs a nuba.

DP premium surface shield is a nice sealant. it even has a spray version which is good for after-wash rejuvinations!

:iagree: Dp will outlast Wheel Wax. Typically Wheel Wax wears out in about a week, where DP will last you on average 3-4 weeks. As for sealant, Wolfgang is one of the best sealants there is. DP new formula sealant is also another excellent product. DP Max Wax is an excellent choice wax.
Don't forget that first thing you will need is a lot of microfibers, and I strongly recommend Cobra for paint. Cheap brand microfibers like the ones sold at Costco are only good enough for other all purpose jobs, bot for paint. And stay away from "microfiber" sold at Pepboys, Kragen, and Autozone. Those towels are so static, they stick to themselves.
A good car wash shampoo you will need as well. Here is a few of my favorites: Optimum, DP Xtreme formula, and Poorboy's SS&S.

Clearkote, Pinnacle, and Poorboys are my favs. Dont like Wheel Wax at all, but love the DP Wheel Glaze. 303 makes a nice protectant if you like a matte finish and can be used inside and outside the car.

I have never used Wheel Wax, but DP Wheel Glaze is a very nice product!

I made my first purchase. Here's what I got DP wheel wax, DP wheel cleaner, 303 Aerospace, DP Krystal glass cleaner. I also got Cobra microfiber gloves, some all purpose towels, and waffle weave towel. Now, I wont get my Mini Cooper S for about 5 weeks, but still need to detail my '99 Silver GTI so it looks real good on the used car market. I bought these first since I knew I would need them on both cars, the alloy wheels on the GTI took a beating from my noobness.

So, What other products should I get now to round out a basic detailing kit?

I was thinking along the lines of :
DP auto bath
DP Prem surface shield sealant
Meguiars Plastic Care kit (for lights on gti)
microfiber wash mitt
Pinnacle polishing pal
guzzler towel

Thoughts?

a couple ultra plush towels ... maybe some Clearkote Quikshine for between the detailing sessions. Poorboys Bug Squash is always a hit.

DP Prem surface shield sealant - good choice sealant.
