Hey guys, I know that this topic has been brought up thousands of times. I have been doing research to the point where my eyes started to bleed. I still can't figure out what is the most recommended carnuba wax. I drive a 04 e46 M3 in carbon black, looks black at night but in the sun it is a deep dark blue. I have come up with a list of the waxes most people talk about. #Thanks for the help!

Collinite Marque D’Elegance Carnauba Paste Wax #915, car wax, paste auto wax

DP Max Wax- Made with pure carnauba wax and advanced polymers.

Wolfgang Füzion Carnauba Polymer Estate Wax 3 oz. Mini

Pinnacle XMT 180 High Gloss Carnauba Paste Wax, XMT car wax, auto wax, best show car wax

Meguiars #26 Hi-Tech Liquid Wax is a polymer liquid car wax that offers excellent paint protection and shine! Meguiars #26 High Tech Liquid Wax is

Mothers California Gold Pure Carnauba Paste Wax 12 oz.

I use Fuzion on my 2012 SRT8 in Black, topped with some Meg Yellow 26 and it looks fantastic.

Chemical Guys Black wax looks amazing on dark cars. A litte dab goes a long way too. I have waxed three cars with it and all of them looked fantastic after I was done.

Welcome and nice ride...

I'd add BlackICE and / or Dodo Blue Velvet to your list - both make my Monaco Blue 335i really pop!

Dodo ph or bv
Bouncers Satsuma rock, capture the rapture
Auto finesse illusion

Nice Saleen in your pic! My previous car was a 2004 Saleen s281 speedster s/c!

This is very confusing everybody recommends something different. I know that different people like different looks.but I don't have the cash to try out different waxes until I find the one I like that's why I want to see what people will tell me to buy.

915 or Max, 845 is great too, but takes some getting used to working with it. In the end, most can't tell a difference once its on the vehicle.

Collinite 845 for a sealant! Its cheap and looks amazing. You can top that with 476 as well so you hard getting a sealant and a wax while stay under budget and your getting great protection.

Some of us don't even use "waxes" anymore.
The only way to know if you like a particular product is to apply it.
Have you considered the samples thread? If I had any from your list I would gladly send you samples. But I don't do 'wax' anymore...mainly hybrids and sealants.

Everyone will have a different opinion. The truth is that while a wax might have a slight effect on the final appearance of the vehicle, the proper prep work makes all the difference.

A properly polished, swirl free finish, will look great no matter what product you use for your layer of protection. If you want a budget friendly wax, CG makes some nice products. I am a fan of their Pete's 53 wax, but then again I am not a carnauaba junky and prefer to either seal or coat most vehicles.

Thanks - mine was an '02 S281 - really loved that car!

You'll get as many opinions about options here as there are waxes, pretty much. Maybe consider the sample pots of Dodo to see if you like something like blue velvet, or even the smaller BlackIce / others. A little goes a very long way with this stuff if you do it right.

Actually...I have about half of one of the samples of Blue Velvet left - not a lot but enough for an application or two. PM me your address and I'll send it on over....

If its black, are you doing paint correction? Does it have defects?

You may want to go with a "system" that can aid at hiding defects temporarily with a glaze built into the paint cleaner. If the finish has defects, an acrylic glaze to prep will help hide them, and will likely contribute more the the "look" than the actual wax - assuming your not planing on removing all defects.

This is part of the prep. It's really hard to recommend something without knowing the condition of the paint, and what is going to be done do it prior. IronX, claying, & polishing will all make more of a difference than the actually wax used, that's if that needs to be done.

I agree. If the paint is all swirled up, Id go with something like CG Blacklight + V7 Spray sealant, so you can hide the defects with the BlackLight and protect with the V7.

Your best bet is to buy the panel pots from dodo there about 10 to 13 bucks and there's enough to do about 3 cars depending on the size.
Also autogeek has those 3 oz sizes of fuzion bi etc. Just wait for a sale

Yes I'm going to do a paint correction using the 3m perfect it machine polish with grey pad and then 3m perfect it ultrafine machine polish with there blue pad. So do you guys recommend to get a sealant over a carnuba? So non of the ones in my list are any good?

Sometimes AG'ers can get caught up in trying to figure out what you're truly after and then we diverge from the topic. Don't get too overwhelmed; it's easy to do so if you think too much about it. I'm not a pro, just an enthusiast and I don't have the money for a bunch of carnauba's either.

If you truly are looking for a paste wax and your budget is $50 or less then these are--IMHO--your best value options at the moment:

DP Max Wax: it's on sale for 40% off at $24.99 (down from $39.99), that is a STEAL. I repeat, That.is.a.STEAL. So much so, that I pulled the trigger on it last Friday and my package arrived today.:dblthumb2:
Pete's 53: it's also on sale for 20% off at $31.99. That is a excellent deal for this wax; it's loved by a lot of people on this forum!
DoDo Juice Panel Pots: They come at $13.99/pot and less if you do the 2 Pack ($25.99). They allow you to sample without buying too much. If you get the 2 Pack, get one soft wax and one hard to see how you like them.
Wolfgang Fuzion 3oz mini: It's on sale for 40% off at $36.99. Anyone who tries it loves it. I think it's too expensive for 3oz, but I only detail my own cars and I have a limited budget.

The above is all based off the assumption that you not only want some paint protection, but you want to add cosmetic flair as well. If you are looking for a paste wax, you can't go wrong with any of the above. Truthfully, DP Max Wax or Pete's 53 is what I think you should get because of the sale right now. They are only $5 & $6 (respectively) more than Mothers, that's awesome. If you are hesitant about getting only one thing and you might not like it, get the Dodo Juice panel pots.

If your real question is, "What should I get to protect my BMW's paint?" and you are open to other forms of paint protection, then that's another story.

My budget only allows me to go up to $50.

Pete's 53 all the way and you'll have money left over especially with the sale right now.

This is an example of CG Blacklight and Pete's 53, you could get both of those right now with the discount they are running and that will last you a while for sure.
