Connection for my auto lock/unlock on my topper got knocked loose yesterday and came unattached.

I think I can solder it as I hold it to make the connection and the key fob will still activate the lock until the connection is lost.

Any type of solder or should watch for as I try and resolder it this weekend?

Should be easy enough. Make sure you get both sides clean and then use a rosin core solder, with or without lead.

Thank you. Haven’t soldered anything since 8th grade technology class about 20 years ago.

Bought a cheap kit online that should be here with everything for $16 and going to try and knock it out this weekend with the help from my dad.

Luckily I have a couple already. I like to “build” model cars and use them for painting and holding smaller pieces but appreciate the advice!

Should be fairly easy as it does not look like circuit board trace came off.
Choice of solder is dependent on what you can find.
Lead free solder has a higher melting point that say 60/40 lead solder so it will take more heat to solder the connection. Be careful to not apply to much heat as you can lift the traces off of the circuit board. This where a solder station with changeable tips and temperature control comes in handy
You will want to choose a smaller diameter solder like .031

Thank you! That’s the confidence booster I needed.

UPDATE! Mission accomplished!!!!

Thanks everyone for the support and suggestions.

My old man came over to ride bikes Saturday and after the ride we knocked this out in 10-15 minutes.

Hardest part was figuring a way to solder “upside down” with the soldered piece having to be held up was kinda tricky but it’s working just fine now!

Also…. During the process found a bolt was missing out of one of the hinges and the nut inside the frame on the camper shell had fallen out.

We tried to rivet it in place but no bueno so ordered a riv nut inserter tool that just arrived today.

Hoping next weekend to knock that out next.
