Hi everybody. First post/new to detailing, but I've been on this site for a few months now gathering information. I have to say that the depth of knowledge and willingness to share information is refreshing.

So I bucked-up and got a PC7424XP and the Meg's MF System 5.5in (pads & compounds). I finally have time to try it out this weekend. Here's my dilemma:

I have two cars...2010 Jeep Patriot with Natual Green paint. Very dark green with a metallic flake. Other car is a 2011 VW Jetta in Tornado Red. Bright red, no flake. The Jeep has a fair amount of swirls & scratches due to carwash use (obviously this all occured prior to me joining AG!). The Jetta is only 4 months old and has minor swirling & scratches (courtesy of the dealer's new car prep).

For my first crack at using a PC (and the Meg's MF system) would it be wiser to tackle the Jeep or the Jetta? Don't have time to do both this weekend. Any input is welcome.

You could use the finishing wax and pads on the Jetta as a one stepper and it will give you a chance to get a feel for the machine, how to make passes, work a section, and clean the pad (air or bug sponge).

Once you've practiced on the Jetta with the less aggressive compound, it won't be too different when you use the D300 on the Jeep, just go a bit slower and work a test spot for the approx number of passes you'll need to level the paint.

Have fun!

Thanks for the info...much appreciated. I will be taking your advice and working on the Jetta. Got a two additional questions...1. From what I've been able to find on AG and Meguiar's, it looks like I should use the #3 speed setting on my PC for the finishing wax/pad. Does that sound right? 2. I'm in Metro Detroit and it supposed to be pushing 90 degrees tomorrow. I'll be working in a garage but will the temp & humidity affect the outcome? Thanks again, I'll try to take some before and afters.

I haven't used the system but D301 is supposed to be a breeze to work with. If you are having issues with wipeoff it will likely be due to the temp and humidity.

The Meguiar's Microfiber DA Correction System is gaining in popularity and performance. Watch the video below and while you can certainly watch it in its entirety move the slider across to about 12 minutes for the more important parts.

Over on the Meguiar's site there's additional information that might help as well.
