I'm having a difficult head scratching time with the paint on a 2003 Allegro motorhome. There are some areas that are heavily oxidized. Here's what I've tried..
Menzerna SIP w/orange pad PC 7424=streaks
two more passes= still streaking
Paint cleaner first, PB Pro Polish=streaks
extra passes=still streaks
Makita rotary w/blue wool Menzerna SIP=Streaks
This is getting frustrating. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the oxidation is gumming up. Maybe try some paint thinner on a small section.

Thanks Rsurfer. I've got a gallon of thinner. I'll give it a try tomorrow. Anything to look out for?

Jimmie,

You might try Poor Boy's Pro polish also. It has worked for me in the past. Does not do real well with swirl removal (unless used with wool) as it is a chemical polish. But is does wonders with oxidized paint.

Thanks GeorgiaHybrid. PB PP is one that I tried and did better than the others but still got streaks and splotches. Any other tricks? I'm going to try Rsurfers idea of paint thinner this AM. Wetsanding would probably do it too but I don't have the confidence/experience to try it.

This might sound crazy but have you tried an all in one like poor boys or kaio? They have a little more lubricity than polish alone and might help with the streaks you are seeing.

I have had luck washing with a heavy mixture of apc and water.

Menzerna makes a compound called Powergloss that might have to be used first, especially if highly oxidized.

Try a good APC full strenth first in a non visible area. Then you may have to polish it or wax it.
