So I'm buffing a sort of special project RIGHT NOW and I'm having some problems and a little confused.

What am I done wrong with the da and menzerna?

You as well Mike. Since the call I decided to ditch the DA, and the black 3M polish pad for rotary and only use the ultra fine blue pad. The 3500 and 3800 finished out MUCH better with the blue at 1400rpm. I'm going to take a break and read those links. Thanks again!

Sounds good. Are you using the waffle 3M pads?

Follw up with how the job turns out. :xyxthumbs:

Yes I was using the waffle pads. A couple of things I experimented with. I think the 3500 and 3800 were better suited with the softer blue 3M pad than it was with the black. Using the 3M polish with the black pad, the panel finishes the same as 3500 with the blue. I applied this knowledge and used the LC hybrid red pad on the 3401 for both the 3500 and the 3800 and it looked just as good as the normal 3M steps I usually take. I thought this was odd as the black LC pad is not supposed to do any correction, but wondering if the denser foam played any roll. Still mulling all this over...

EDIT: I also used Mike's recommendations from his http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...rning-3401-menzerna-products-hybrid-pads.html thread. This may have helped quite a bit (final finish was fantastic with 35/3800 and red pad) but still had less than satisfying results with the black pad. Maybe 2500 and black pad only?
