need to clean nasty greased door jambs?

I have used all sorts of degreasers, dawn and soaps...I am sure a steamer would work GREAT too, but at $800+, not everyone has that. I use WD-40...I use a old rag and spray the WD-40 on the rag...it cuts right through the grease; then wash the jamb with regular car wash shampoo. WD-40 originally was a degreaser, cleaning agent.

Sounds good. Probably a good aid for those really nasty Jambs that haven't been cleaned in many years.

I'll often employ a soft trim paint brush to help massage the nasties out. With a good APC, massage, then carefully rinse with hose, with spray attachment, this works fairly quick, and if you're careful, you won't soak carpeting-interior.

Of course after, all hinges-etc should be re-lubed with a good Oil, and in some instances of slide bars, grease should be used. Stays put better.
 
Up here lots of cars get aftermarket "rust-proofing" treatments. The oily, waxy, greasy, black stains do not come out with a caustic (APC) solvent. I know, I've tried them all. When the WD-40 doesn't work I resort to OMS. Ugh.
 
yes WD40 is a great solvent.
and you can get a cheep steamer for around $150 bucks. It won't last long but it will work.
 
Meg's D108, agitation, CAREFULLY pressure wash heavily soild door jambs.
 
Don't forget to apply proper amount of grease to hinges after you clean them. It doesn't have to be slopped on to properly lubricate the hinges.

Yes! I've had a few customers tell me that past detailers they've used cleaned their car and afterwards they noticed that their doors didn't shut quietly (had that familiar sound that says you need to grease the hinges).

I use the following products in the following order (if one doesn't work move on to the next):

1. OPC 1:3
2. OPC Straight
3. Purple Power

Eventually I want to try either DG's Orange degreaser or 3D's yellow degreaser.

Brush-wise I use these brushes:
Atlasta Soft Tip Brush
1" Boars hair detail brush


When the door jambs aren't bad, I use either D114 (usually at 1:128 for doorjambs) or just my car shampoo.
