I just got a round boars hair brush and now Im getting cold feet about using it because of brush phobia!! I know Mike and Meghan seem to love using them so before i begin washing with it i wanted to see if they or anyone else could explain the proper technique to using the brush and any tips so i wont mar my paint. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Use plenty of soapy water and don't scrub with the brush but instead use it gently over the paint.

Rinse the hairs well in you wash bucket, using the Two Bucket Method is a great way to use the Boar's Hair Brush as dirt will flush out of the hairs easily in a rinse water bucket, especially if you have a Grit Guard insert inside of the bucket.

That's why I got one. I felt more comfortable knowing they wouldn't scratch the paint if used properly. I guess I should use the 2 bucket method on my daily driver.

I use mine with a foam gun. I spray the area with foam, the spray the brush, then make a few passes. I have a bucket with a grit guard that I rinse really well in, then I start over again with foaming the place I'm about to wash as well as the brush. I'm not saying the only way to use it is with the foam gun!! That's just the only way I've ever used mine; but that's mainly because I like my foam gun so much. I use this same method with my sea sponge as well.

Megan,

Do you think the "no rinse" car wash solutions produce too little suds for the Boar's brushes?? I have some scratches in my daily driver since full detail and have only been using my Boar's Brush since the detail here in frigid Chicago. My microfibres, I believe, are fine so I'm not sure where they came from.

Thanks,

Martin

I'm also curious about Martin's question. Living even farther north (go Pack), I was thinking about using a boars brush with my DP rinseless product. The telescoping handle with a boars brush would save my back a little pain, but I'm paranoid never having used a brush before.

Just keep reminding yourself to let the brush do the work, kind of like using a paint roller on a smooth wall. Just let it glide.

BTW I love my Boar's Hair Brush.

I like mine too. Use it with rinse-less and let the brush do the work.
No scratches, no problems.

As long as you're using a lot of wash solution to keep the paint lubricated, I don't see anything wrong with it. I would personally rather use a sheepskin mitt when using rinseless wash, but the brush will still work under the right circumstances. Keep in mind you'll have to use a lot of solution as mentioned, and RINSE THE BRUSH OFTEN!
