Can't remember where I heard this, but is it true?

Today's new cars should only be bathed in water, for X amt. of time, so as to allow the paint to harden???

Nah, new cars have plenty of time to cure before the reach the the lot.

Here's how some new cars get bathed, in water only,
for at least a couple of minutes.

Don't know if the paint can become any
harder, from receiving this water-bath, than
it already is---after it has gone through the
assembly plant's paint-kitchen curing-oven(s),
that is.

Perhaps that was ancient history, like when all cars were black.

Thanks

Never heard this before but thanks for posting this thread:dblthumb2:

you may be thinking of a freshly painted car from a body shop??
those are the wash only with water after 30 and don't wax until 3 months kinda thing, or so I've heard. I had my daughters Civic rear bumper cover replaced and sprayed and when I asked the body shop guy about when I could wash it, he laughed and said, "hell, you just wrecked it. now you wanna keep it clean?" and walked off. I washed it with hyper wash 4 days later and nothing fell off.

Rockinrandall - That's what I remember now, freshly painted from a body shop.

Thanks

I worked at a Chrysler Dealer for 20 yrs and we would wash cars right off the truck that were filthy and covered in salt in the winter and there was never a problem
