I have just purchased new Chrome rims for my Shelby GT500. Should I do more than just put glaze on them before installing? The ID behind the spokes is not a smooth surface. It has shallow machine grooves that I'm afraid will collect brake dust … any ideas?

Keep them sealed is the best advice I can give you.
Being they're new you can easily maintain them.
I've read many people having great results using this.

Detailer’s Wheel Coating, wheel wax, wheel sealant, brake dust repellent

You can use just about any sealant you want but on wheels they generate a lot of heat so most sealants will break down on you, but still if you seal them often you should be fine.

It really depends on how much money you care to spend on them.
Myself I use Wolfgang Glossy Paint Sealant, one product protects my entire car:)

I make it easy on myself.

I'd rather spend more up front than work my butt off to try and maintain later.
Is Wolfgang paint sealant safe for use on Chrome?

It's completely safe for chrome, even glass.
I use it on everything except on black trim.
Using it on your rims will give you an insane shine, I tried it on chrome bumpers and wow did it look good. :dblthumb2:
